Man, I just ventured OY for a few minutes. I had forgotten about the snarling nastiness on that board. Every little thing potentially sets someone off. Geeze Louise. Bickering and badgering and ego ego ego. Wow. I'm not going OY for a while. Life is hard enough.

Yes, Over Yonder. It's a long standing joke. Because it's what you say after you go there.

Not everyone has been on here long and do not understand insider references. Please have pity on us when posting. Thank you.

Not everyone has been on here long and do not understand insider references. Please have pity on us when posting. Thank you. Welcome / Welcome back, Jake. Fair enough. Just ask. We're willing to explain. The tricky ones I've seen recently are OY (aka TOB) ... references another site where many of us are unwelcome ... and that's entirely fine with me. We sometimes shorten a name like doggydaddy to DD or davidinnaples as DIN. Some call Caroline Ducharme CD4 (Naturally, because CD is Chris Dailey, CD2 is Caroline Doty, CD3 is Crystal Dangerfield). Paige has occasionally been Supergirl since about the second game of last season for obvious reasons Some teams get abbreviated now and again, but most of those are fairly intuitive. Several of us love a good turn of phrase (even if execution doesn't always match the brilliance of the intent), which may look like an inside joke even when they are not. Ken is an absolute master of the "almost pun". They're not really words, but the meanings are usually clear

That's fine. I meant no harm at all. Welcome!!! We are very very open to any questions and you will never be put down. And if you are, I'll defend you.

About the only thing I have accomplished here is coining TOB, which others graciously adopted.

Don't feel bad, it took me a while to understand all the "board only" slang here. But this group is friendly, easy going (HAHAHA) and LOVES the UCWB team.
I occasionally will stop by TOB to read, but I've never signed up. I just LURK. Here I do spout off.
Hooray for BBALL SEASON!!

Plus if you are going to criticize a player, just do so in a very guarded way and use Geno's words if you can. I find this to be crucial for a happy time here. The fans here are very loyal and super well-informed. Recently I had a group of students in a museum in Berlin (obviously pre-covid) and the docent started spouting off nonsense about medieval art in its liturgical contexts, and I couldn't take it and piped up. She started back at me and one of the colleagues standing near said to her "trust me, you don't want to go there." It ended. Well, that's how I feel here. I really don't want to/wouldn't challenge some of the people who write regularly on this board as they are the most well informed fans in UCONN wcbb (in my view). And I learn so much from them, as a amateur student of the game. These folks are pros.

I read it everyday because they do have some good stuff but man, you can't take a lot of that stuff seriously. Sometimes it seems like som of them have lost money on the point spread or something and are bitter about it. There is a lot of anger over there no doubt.

Love the name 'OY' for TOB.
Oi or oy has many meanings/origins. In Britain, it's like “Hey!”, usually in a negative situation when you are angrily trying to get someone's attention, or when you're indicating you're offended by something someone just said. In Yiddish, it's like a lament, it's often uttered as a defeated-sounding sigh
It's perfect IMO
