under 3:00 to go with a 7 pt lead, at Stanford with the usual sleepy Stanford crowd....UConn draws bigger crowds in practice.
5 pt lead under 2:00
8 pt lead with 90 seconds

this game is taking longer to finish than Stanford undergrad comp sci majors take to become millionaires.

Stanford showing incredible spunk and sang froid as they claw back.
TX up 3 with the ball and 18 seconds to go.

Took half an hour to play the last 3 minutes. Seriously?
Kind of a disgrace. Stanford won the NC heroically--staying away from campus for more than a month. And yet, there couldn't be more than a couple thousand there for the opening game against a nationally ranked team.
Great win for Vic.
Every Stanford loss makes it less likely that UConn and South Carolina meet in the NCAA Tournament before the championship game.

I was watching the scoreboard on ESPN. I just thought it was a slow refresh issue.
Vic can coach, no question.
Maybe it was a nice day in California and the students spent their time under the tall trees on campus.

Texas plays @ Tennessee exactly 1 week from today and I'm hoping for a Texas style stampede to gore the Lady Vols!!

Yeah that last two minutes took forever, but it was worth it. I confess I didn't expect this. Vic Shaeffer deserves a lot of credit.
Massey had Stanford by 10.5 exactly the same as UConn over Arkansas, so that win by Texas was almost exactly as unlikely as us losing today.

This is a shock. Did anyone see this coming?

This is a shock. Did anyone see this coming? No, but Tara is a very good coach and she'll have her team working on what went wrong for them! Their point guard position is a big weakness for them now, but I expect they'll be in the Final Four again!

I'm never gonna count out Tara after an early-season stumble. I still remember taking apart Stanford and the Virgin Islands, then losing that same season in Tampa Bay. She’ll have her team in shape for the end of the year. Too bad the fan base doesn’t appreciate her.

Vic is an amazing coach though, so that's part of it.

Vic is an amazing coach though, so that's part of it. So true. And he can really recruit excellent players. Maybe as early as this upcoming NCAA tournament, he's building a major highly ranked team.

Nice win for Vic, for sure, but there's a lot of water still to flow over the dam. I like him a lot, too. He rallied outstanding fan support in Starkville very quickly. He's been a good (not great) recruiter. He's excellent at developing three and four star kids into four and five stars. T. McGowan was outstanding in college, but hasn't blossomed in the W, where V. Vivians is a mid-roster player. After that, less impact ... part of that is time. Those were his first draft stars, and he left for the Lone Star state soon thereafter. His recruiting was rising as his teams proved themselves. He wasn't able to keep C. Taylor in TX. That's a big bummer for the program. We'll see if he can get five star talent to come, and whether he can help blue chips make similar advances.
