muchas gracias for this treasure of references, Ken! First, I didn't know Chesnutt and The Conjure Women, so thanks so much for that. Hoping to get to his work soon. And, as you say, the article about Duke WCBB is an onion to unpeel. So many great stories linked from the one referencing Duke's offense. Why can't someone provide similar analysis of UConn? Running Princeton, huh? The reporter in a linked article is urging 4 out motion which is what UConn often plays, though Geno prefers 5 out. Here's a really good tip off. Geno said of Dorka: “She’s skilled in the lane,” Auriemma said. “She’s really long and can get the ball up on the rim a lot of different ways. It doesn’t take her much. It was really good to see her make that three... If she can make a couple of those on a regular basis, I think that’s a huge help for what we’re trying to do.”When folks criticize Liv for taking threes, they don't realize that Geno wants her to do that! That's 5 out motion.

bulkey I want to say you sure you're not confusing making 3s with making 3 fouls. But I won't.

I'm not personally fond of the 5 out offense, UNLESS, you have 5 scorers on the floor. Few teams are talented enough to maintain 5 scorers when you include rotational substitutions and fouls. It works on the next level, because more of the " pros " are more capable scorers than at he college level. This year's Uconn roster is more tailor made for this " on paper ". Forcing SC to play defense all over the court and scoring at a high level will put pressure on Gamecocks to keep up. They want to keep the score around 70 points, but can they keep up if the game is played in the 80's ?

San Antonio (in its glory days) used something close. It is derived from Claire Bee's offense, I believe, and used early by Bobby Knight. I think Jay Wright uses it too.
