Despite her bluster, they really are formidable. She took a mediocre program and built a franchise for the ages.

Dawn is likely the best college coach in America who isn't named Geno or CD. She takes on all comers, and she'll be at it for a LONG time.

Liking Tara, too, especially the "new Tara" (the one who recently took up body surfing and revivified her career). Stanford is playing incredible ball right now, and her recruiting has recently been phenomenal.

She's a super recruitor. But I'd put Geno/CD and Tara ahead in the coaching. As recruiters, they are even steven it seems. Who's in the next tier? I think it's too soon to say.

I think Geno and Tara play roughly the same kind of fluid ball (different offensive sets, but the same attack philosophy), while Dawn sort of references Tenn's old style of less mobile, more muscular bigs and therefore a bit less of the quick transition game. Among the elite, I'd certainly include Kim, who's won more NCs than either Tara or Dawn. Unlike Geno, Tara, and Dawn who seem to recruit broadly speaking to their preferred style of play, I think Kim's pretty balanced and coaches more to the team's strengths.

Tara has had really good teams for decades and at a school with much tougher entry requirements than South Carolina!

Geno, Tara, Kim, Dawn ... these are the best combination of all areas. Jeff is not too far behind. Kelley Graves and maybe Scott Rueck land in the next tier, too
After that, we get into best at ... recruiting (Ex. Brenda) ... game strategy (Doug) ... adjustments (Sue Semerau? Mike Carey?) ... player development (Vic) ... offensive or defensive design (Harry) ... etc

And for turning top talent into merely good players, I nominate Cori Close.
