Sorry, these AP writers are overthinking things. How can you not vote the defending National Champion who returns the core of their NC team as #1? I have no problem (or not much of a problem) with UConn being behind SC and Stanford. Man, talk about giving Stanford some bulletin board material.

Notre Dame has a lot to prove before they can even be counted in the "others receiving votes". When you are that deep in the hole, it takes time to crawl out.

I am happy to see that UConn will not have the weight of No 1 to start the season. Am I being overly suspicious when I see That the 1st meeting between the 3 powers will likely happen on Paradise Island, setting up a media-loving 1 vs 2 game? If they had made the Trees No 1 it would be a 2 vs 3 game. Meh.  |

If they had made the Trees No 1 it would be a 2 vs 3 game. Meh. Who knows what will happen by then. Any team could have an early season upset. Except maybe Brender with her infamous cupcake feast to start the season.  |

View Attachment I was thinking more of the pressure on the No 1 team and that SCar hasn't been that successful at hanging on to No 1. I think UConn has played them twice as the No 2 team and beat them both times. Beating them in Columbia would be sweet. I have my fingers crossed that nothing screws this season up because it's going to be great. |
