I posted the story on Pickin' Bones, since I didn't know whether recognition of human rights is political.  But maybe he'll stay for First Night? Although I very much doubt he will, his very presence that day--motorcade, secret service, reporters--will increase the buzz for any potential recruits Geno brings to campus for the event. |

I am sure that the conspiracy theorists are busy trying to spin this visit, timed as it is with First Night, as some kind of recruiting violation. Quick, check the rule book. Let's make sure a recruit can visit on the same day as a visiting head of state

Biden's presence at First Night would not be a plus. The focus is to be on UConn Basketball, not this guy.

Just to say, I posted the story on Pickin' Bones for folks who want to comment on the politics. I was trying to draw attention to the effect on UConn recruitment and not at all drawing political inferences.

There's a huge air force base outside Springfield so he'll likely helicopter in from there. I was caught trying to drive on I-84 in Waterbury when Reagan visited for a half hour. All the highways were closed for his photo op.
