I sort of stumbled on this. A combination of injuries, sitting out to transfer and maybe the Covid waiver allowed Patberg to return to IU for her 7th year in school (a graduate student now, I guess, unless she's like Bluto Blutarsky) and her fifth year of competition. Amazing. iuhoosiers.com/sports/womens-basketball/roster/ali--patberg/15669

Isn't Stanford's Wilson a 6th year player?
Not to sound mean but if she is so valuable and skilled why isn't she playing professionally ?

Impressive number of national award watch lists and All Big Ten teams sprinkle her resume. But WNBA level doubtful.

Isn't Stanford's Wilson a 6th year player? Not to sound mean but if she is so valuable and skilled why isn't she playing professionally ? she chose to return for another year, like Evina did. She may get drafted into the W. She's a defensive specialist ... likely to play in Europe, too

Impressive number of national award watch lists and All Big Ten teams sprinkle her resume. But WNBA level doubtful. A very solid college player. And there is nothing wrong with that. As I was reading some articles about the WNBA playoffs mentioning the success of former Rutgers players Benijah Laney on NY and Copper on Chicago. But here's the thing - they didn't step into the league and have instant success. Erica Wheeler in LA grew her game as a pro elsewhere before she became a WNBA starter. So it doesn't mean that Patberg can't have a WNBA career - but I think (as you said) it certainly will require work and is unlikely.
