Quick quiz... which Huskies' player had the most turnovers last season? As with most stats, the answer is Paige..! She had 73 to's to go with her 168 assists... That still gives her a very, very good 2.3 assist-to-turnover ratio. How about the rest of the Huskies...?
Turnovers: 1. Paige 73 total 2. Evina 68 to's vs 128 assists 3. Tie - Olivia and Aaliyah with 57 turnovers 5. Christyn at 51 turnovers vs 64 assists 6. Nika with 44 turnovers vs 62 assists 7. Aubrey at 23 turnovers vs 24 assists
Turnovers should improve dramatically this season with everyone on the above list returning... the team total for last year was 422. That works out to 14.1 turnovers per game. Two years ago that stat was 13.8 per game & in 2018-19 it was 11.7 per game. Keep in mind, 4 of the top 6 on the above list were freshman or in their first year at UConn. The flip side is another batch of freshman, several of which will see action often... should be fun to watch..!!
Go Huskies..!!
P.S. - For those of you wondering... Caitlin Clarke of Iowa had 144 turnovers to go with her 214 assists. That is an Assist-to-turnover ratio of 1.48...

Paige's TO number will improve even if she is no better (but she will be), because in the beginning of the season her teammates would stop a run early or would be surprised and miss the rock. Quite a few of the others were when she was trying to make something happen. I'm not worried about those, either.

I feel about Clark like I did about Ianescu. An other worldly talent that would have been even greater had she played for Geno

She's been good, but seems to me that she hasn't really moved the needle yet. Last WNBA season Ionescu suffered a Grade 3 sprain of her left ankle, the most severe kind, during the first half of the Liberty's third game on July 31, 2020. After, she was unable to return before the conclusion of the 2020 season, Ionescu underwent surgery last November to remove scar tissue that had formed in the ankle. It wasn't until the past month or two, after a rehab process she describes as "brutal" complicated by the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, that Ionescu was able to get back on the court for 5-on-5 work. That timeline prevented her from considering going overseas to play as most WNBA players do during the league's offseason.

Yes, she had a catastrophic injury (achilles) in her 3rd game of her first season, after an incredible 2nd game, and I think she's battled some minor injuries this year.

I must have had too many drinks at Bokampers.

I knew about last season's injury. I thought she was back and in fine fettle to begin this season, but haven't heard much since.
