Being tied to my chair and forced to watch the US Tennis Open by my tennis-crazy (and quite accomplished) wife, I was musing about which Huskies would excel at competitive tennis.
I couldn't get much past the obvious ones: Paige and Azzi. But I think Mir and Aubrey have the reflexes, quickness, and body types to excel too. Nika would probably talk the opponent back to the locker room and win by forfeit.
Most of the bigs are just too, well, big. Better leverage on the serves, but a bit hard to reverse course. Aaliyah might be a terror out there, though....
Don't know why not Evina and Christyn, but just don't think so.

Serena is 5'9" (I just checked), an inch shorter than Nika who is the shortest player on the team. That just shows that Serena looks tall relative to other players. Male players (at least) used to do fine when tall, since in the days of wood rackets, there as serve and volley. Today, with composites, it's baseline and small and quick is more important than tall and stretchy. (Though again, there is leverage on the serves, just that it's not as valuable.)

Oh, yeah, Venus is the taller sister, 6'1" So was Sharapova. That's about as tall as women champions ever were.
