Quick quiz... did UConn shoot better or worse than 35% from the 3 pt arc last season ?
Interesting answer... better than 35% as a team (35.6%), but only 1 player beat the 35% level. (Her initials are PB.)
1. In fact, without Paige, the team 3 pt average was 32.1%. (137-427)
2. Paige made 64 threes last year, out of the total of 201.
3. The total made threes of 201 is in sharp contrast to previous years. (2019-20 = 281 threes and 2018-19 = 303 threes)
4. Opponents made only 27.2% of their 3 pt shots. (176-647)
5. Paige made 46.4% of her shots beyond the arc. (64-138)
6. Christyn took the most threes (143) and had the 2nd most makes with 49.
7. All but 15 of the made threes were by players who return this season. (Anna = 13, Autumn = 2)
In addition to the returning players who made all but 15 of the 201 made threes, Azzi Fudd joins the team with a reputation as a better shooter than Paige.
And CD4 beat Azzi in a 3 pt contest, so shooting from long range should improve dramatically.
