All these discussions and yet not one comment from the media giants who will ante up billions for TV rights Decisions this important won't be left to AD's. Two of the 3 conferences have their own TV networks. This is going to be complicated.

Two of the 3 conferences have their own TV networks. This is going to be complicated. They all have their own networks. The ACC network is an ESPN station, similar to the SEC network. The Big Ten Network is associated with Fox. And the PAC network is "independent". Of course, on one hand the PAC network could disappear and I wouldn't cry - not only hasn't it been a big money maker (for a variety of reasons), but I don't get it anyhow. But on the other hand, trying to fit West Coast scheduling into other time windows is difficult. The Big Ten network is, so far as I know, quite successful. Much of B1G expansion was driven by media markets.

Two of the 3 conferences have their own TV networks. This is going to be complicated. I suspect TV will be very careful to let things shake out. I wonder what kinds of provisions exist in the current deals. If Baylor and WV were to jump tomorrow, the Big 12 would be worthless. Will UCF (and maybe USF) be picked to join the In crowd? Will conferences ... SEC only current candidate... expel perpetual bottom-feeders in favor of further consolidation of the best schools? The football powerhouses will eventually coalesce and most wannabes will be excluded. They would love to have the rest of their sports in a separate grouping. The top Basketball (I think the genders will remain together) schools may also become a "special conference". Then the NCAA and some new set of geographic conferences could remain for everyone else. In that alignment, UCONN might be in the Weaklings conference in football, the Contenders conference in hoops, and the Big East for all other sports

I remember reading that a big reason Louisville got into the ACC was ESPN going to bat for them. Why? Because they were willing to play on Thursday nights. I think that the media will be up to their necks with respect to realignment. After all, they pay the bulk of the costs to the schools involved. I've a good logo for the new football conferences: $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ I have a feeling that greed will eventually be the downfall of football.
