Azzi is 1-6, but started and has 3 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals... just sits out on the wing on offense & doesn't seem to get many passes. Lots of offensive firepower on USA...
Azzi's 17 minutes in 1st half is most on the team...
Phil is right, Clark is "en fuego"...! 21 pts already

A much better played game than yesterday. Clark hitting bombs and has 18. many from 10' behind the arc. Fudd was left unguarded early in the game and nailed a 3 but she is again playing on the weakside and doesn't get many touches. But looks really good at both ends of the court. Any doubts about her knee injury effecting her quickness and speed are gone from my mind.
Diamond Johnson is very quick but someone needs to teach her to look for wide open team mates when she drives. Many of her drives remind me of Jefferson as a freshman, lowering her head while driving into a forest of tall defenders and throwing up a prayer.

Azzi with a sweet "blow by" move for an easy lay-up... knee/ankle looks fine... Azzi with 3 assists, should have 5-6, USA missing lots of shots... 21-49 overall |

End of the 3rd period... 72-49 USA has it under control... Fudd's 25 minutes most of any player. Clark with 22 pts,,,

Clark has cooled off in the 3rd. Close is giving her and Fudd the most minutes.
Betts has some rawness but still has a year of HS.
77-49 with 8 min left in game.
US ass/to 21-7.

USA starts the 4th period with a 19-0 run... wow!! Edit... 23-0 run...  Fudd sitting... 3-9 shooting, but only 1-5 from three... 6 assists (just like Paige early in the season...) |

I think Fudd will "get it" quickly this Sept. She still isn't full out. For all we know she is still avoiding certain moves as part of her rehab. But she is always in position. She played weakside on defense and was guarding weakside perimeter shooters but went very strongly through screens. Geno is going to use her defense skills, especially her footwork to get under Bueckers' skin.

Limited minutes... usually at the end of the game. Scored a few baskets, blocked 2 shots that I saw... A bit foul prone, but tried real hard. She needs coaching at the UConn level.... 😎 |

You don't get much playing time at UConn if you can't play defense. I very much liked the way Azzi moved her feet and went to the ball even when it wasn't her own guy shooting. High school superstars often need a lot of help in college learning defense. Some never bother to learn (you listening, Dee?). From the few plays I saw, Azzi seems to really understand the basics.
