I'll need someone to forward this to Geno, since he may not have thought of this yet... 1st half starters: PG = Nika SG = Paige Wing = Christyn SF = Evina Post = Olivia 2nd half starters: PG = Paige SG = Azzi Wing = CD4 SF = Aaliyah Post = Dorka Thoughts: 1. Yes, Paige always starts. I'm not an idiot. 2. Opponents usually start the same 5 players both halves. Can you imagine the offense & energy from UConn's fresh 5 to start the 2nd half. 3. These nine play in both halves, not just the one they start in. 4. Fresh legs. 5. In big games that are close at the end, the 5 best that day finish the game. You're welcome.

Of course, it'll never happen, but I like it!
Question: are there no substitutes during the half? At the very least, Paige isn't playing 40 minutes/game, though she'd try to insist on it.

Yeah, we were talking about something like this a while back and I agree. It's so interesting. Going up to Storrs to play the two best teams in women's b-ball.

Right this is not about preventing subsitution, but about who starts; basically a different team for each half. You could pull surprises by sometimes starting one instead of the other. The other team would not know til tipoff! Confuse-a-cat:

Must be the heat. I can't get my head around it. Thinking the players might have a problem with it too.

As opposed to the strategy of the last 4 Final Fours...?

While I can't believe Geno would do this, David, I think it would be a huge fan favorite. We'd go nuts seeing 9-deep getting plenty of playing time. I'm assuming, however, that they work Aubrey into this somehow.

Yes, Aubrey was left out and I noticed, but other than CD4, who do you take out ? Great problem to have....

Yes, Aubrey was left out and I noticed, but other than CD4, who do you take out ? Great problem to have.... It is a great problem. In the end, there can be only 5 on the court with only one ball to shoot. And because UConn has the most complex offense in all basketball (read and react 5-out motion) and the most demanding defense (full switching man-to-man), it's essential that the players who are going to be out there at the end of the most important games get the most time together. Geno is really, really big on developing trust. In the good old days, freshmen had to play freshmen ball. Imagine what a UConn freshman team would look like!
