She mentions 2 years and after the training brutality she's just beaming.

I'm praying to the basketball gods that it is two. She came to UConn with the intention using both but also wants to keep her options open.
“When I transferred, I’m definitely looking forward to having that two years,” she said. “It’s gonna be one by one. We’ll see how obviously this year goes but I’m definitely not looking forward to just use one year, I’m definitely looking forward to use two.”

I am no follower of the B1G but I read wcbb news and commentary from all over. Juhasz' name may have come up somewhere but I don't remember. It's not unusual for a Euro recruit to come in under the radar. All the social media attention is about US high school players. But a 2 time B1G first team all-conference player who is 6'5" is hard to hide. While unknown to the public she said that she had a lot of "great offers" from other schools. I can imagine they included guarantees of starter minutes.
But I also have noticed over the years that Geno is usually effusively positive in June and July but that by the end of September his attitude often falls between despair and disgust. I don't see that happening this year but it's always a great show when it does.

I think Geno wants the fans to have something to be positive about over the summer, then he tries to temper our expectations while we wait out fall months before for the first games. When we're all cranky from waiting, right? He doesn't want us TOO excited before we see the actual product.

She's a 2-time all Big-whatever, taller than was listed, has a great shot, doesn't shy away from contact, and, most of all, has already completely bought into the UConn way. Unlike (say) Z, who had no real desire to play underneath or invite contact, Dorka is a real gamer. We'll need to throw her, Liv, and Aaliyah (if not the other youngsters, too) against the South Carolina front. And all our guys are willing to do that!

I have a bit more confidence in Liv's steadier play this coming year. Also, with Dorka and now Aaliyah as a sophomore with even more international summer competition, Liv's playing time might be less, and she can play full out without over worrying about foul trouble. Against South Carolina especially, I think it'll be UConn's bigs-by-committee.

The old rule of thumb, which may no longer hold, was that players tended to play their best in their junior years. I suspect that does not apply to any players with a shot at the WNBA draft.

The WNBA has changed players' motivation. College is still the end of the line for 99% of the players. But UConn has become WNBA Prep. The truly motivated players discount the "college experience" factor in favor of the best pro training. And fortunately that is the type of player UConn wants. (Really fortunate for us fans)

Go to snowy small Siberian Storrs and get prepped for the rest of your life. Or go somewhere warm and fun (I'm looking at you especially, UCLA) but regret it afterwards.
