I nominate Evina for Coach of the Year in 2035. WAIT A MINUTE; I fully expect Geno & CD to be coaching until at least 2040 ..............

T hear Evina tell it, her decision not to go WNBA was much more a feeling than an analysis. I was surprised by what she said in this article.

I nominate Evina for Coach of the Year in 2035. Assuming GA and CD retire in 5 years, Evina would be my 3rd choice for Uconn head coach. First, Shea Ralph. Second, though unlikely to occur, would be Kara Lawson.

A little more informative than the article. It's terse, but she seems to say something(s) clicked in the tournament and she wanted to put that to work in college.

I think the population of Tennessee would drop by 3/4 as most of the state of Tennessee would drop dead of a heart attack of stroke if Kara Lawson became head coach of UConn.

That alone, would make the hire worth it! Imagine further if Lawson's Huskies remain among the elite of women's basketball.

She only had a year, really, to learn the system, and if she really learns it, she can take it with her for a life time, in the WNBA and then as a coach. She is a serious student of the game. Not everyone is...

Her natural arc (Tufts, Princeton) might be Stanford, and she might be too stylist for Storrs (love how she and all her Princeton assistants wear black-on-black and stilettos), but she's a completely no-nonsense kind of coach.

I love Berube as well...but too stylish? CD's wardrobe is not only extensive but very expensive!!! She just prefers a different wardrobe palette

I was kidding about Storrs being a bit "rural" for Carla's fashion sense, but I think CD shops at LUXE, right? Certainly no place local. Stilettos is such an interesting fashion and political statement for walking on basketball hardwood. Was Muffet the first to really strut them?

Not sure about the Muffet...seems like CD has been wearing her stiletto's for a long time. So did Shea and Marissa. Not sure what Morgan will opt for.

I see Morgan as a more the "sensible" shoe kind of person. I wouldn't wear high heels unless absolutely forced to. I wore ballet slippers (NOT Toe Shoes!) at my wedding. High arches make heels more than about 1.5-2 inches high cramp inducing.

Stilettos are seen by some feminists as something men want them to wear for obvious physical reasons, but can cause long term physical harm.
Pat Summitt was a self-conscious dresser: she often wore an outfit in which she could take off the jacket at halftime so she'd have a "different look" for the second half (sort of like a Lady Gaga costume change). But I'm pretty sure she wore flats.
The reason why I bring up Muffet is that head coaches are different from associate/assistant coaches. They get on the hardwood more, pace more, on camera more. Wearing very high, thin heels is a statement of physical strength (Muffet in her famous sideline crouching position for seemingly hours) and social independence. I had a colleague--one of the world's greatest women's historians--who used to conspicuously do knitting in department meetings. Wanted to teach us all about Third Wave feminism.

And I'm short enough to NEED the heels. Just can't wear them.

Remember, Morgan had very bad foot problems. You won't see her in torture wear.
