By pure coincidence, just reading an interview with a rising star of abolitionist history Matthew Karp, who cites Bloch "writing in the 50s." We should all know that he (and his wife) were executed by the Nazis. |

It was pointed out on the Tenn board (where else?) that this is the first time since women's basketball has been an Olympic sport that there are no Tenn alumnae players on the team.

We should all know that he (and his wife) were executed by the Nazis. Bloch could have escaped to a safer place, but he was a very brave humane being and he did what he could to stop the insanity of Hitler! His legacy lives on and he was as good a historian as he was a humane being! June 16th is the anniversary of his death at the hands of Klaus Barbie! |

The Peters tweeting went completely ballistic overnight. It's as if Geno were still coaching the team. One tweeter actually had the courage to point out that when Geno was coaching the team he admitted that he chose players he knew well, because there is such a very short practice period before the competition. Of course, no one liked that! And no one likes that this is Dawn's team and yet she still chose 5 UConners. |

Nneka is dealing with a knee injury. The article I read said that she will be out for at least a month. That's probably why she is not on the team.

The coach has a say, but not the final determination is how I understood how the player selection is done. USA basketball makes the final call, or am I wrong. Wouldn't be the first time. Nor will it be the last!
Bottom line, even if Staley hand picked them. The object is to win, and to do that you put the best combination of players on the floor. Those who play with a sense of unity, who can play together without egos getting in the way. Now I am not saying that Parker and DeShields and others not select are not team players and not ego driven. At least, not explicitly. Implicitly...maybe a case can be made for that.

If you had a guess as to why Parker was not on the 2016 team do you think that it could be because her ego was bigger than Auriemma's? And now in 2021 her snit continues. |

I've always thought that Parker was not on the '16 team due to her attitude, not her bball aptitude. Nneka's injury and EDD's medical status are the obvious reasons why they are not on the team. Since Staley is coach the pundits shouldn't be blaming Geno. Even if he is one the committee. Staley put together the best TEAM from those healthy and available.
