Happy Memorial Day to All. Remembering all who have served our country, all the families who have supported their service, and especially those who made the ultimate sacrifice to keep us free.

I understand what you are saying but "Happy" is not a word I would use to describe a day set aside to remember the thousands of Americans killed in war. For me it's a sad day spent thinking about classmates that died in Vietnam and the son of a classmate that died in Iraq.

Point taken. I fell back on trite expression often used because it is a holiday and there are people begin festive in addition to observing sadness of this day. I, too, lost many classmates from High School and College in Vietnam, and a nephew is suffering from long term effects of Agent Orange from his time as a medic in the Gulf War. Sorry for the inadvertent offense, appreciate your bringing it up.

Please don't misunderstand. I was not offended and an apology is not needed. Mostly I just wanted to remind folks that there is more to Memorial Day than cookouts and beach time.

Everyone on this board means well. There's nothing to misinterpret. Thank God for all the men and women who sacrificed to help create a free country. Pray to God that there is wisdom and decency left to keep it a free country for the future. Now: rain has stopped: burgers on the grill and corn on the cob!
