LOL. in other words, I suspect that there will be at least as many players who get at least one UCONN start as there were this past season. That's eight, by my unofficial recollection count.

I WANTED TWO PAIGES!!!!!!
But I also realized that the Croatiansensation is apparently fully recovered and more than capable. And for her, I fear it's now or never. She's either going to perform right away or she'll be watching from the bench. The team is loaded with apparent talent and none of them want to be spectators.
BUT YOU KNOW:
Even two Stewies wouldn't have won 4 Natties: she needed KML, Tuck, MoJeff, KLS etc etc. Those teammates performed. They carried their load.
Paige can carry her load and more. But without the supporting cast - no National Championship.
Go play golf Doggie. Don't howl around my posts with your screenshot pre-edit magic.

How do you not start Edwards one of the best posts in the country? She is very talented. Who sits? Okay - not Paige. One of the two seniors? Evina? She came back to sit? That was her future? Don't turn pro while the body is still in somewhat decent shape, come back and sit? So that leaves Nika. Is Edwards a viable replacement for Nika? I'd like to know what you think about that. Because if the overwhelming answer is YES then I think Nika may be better off playing for the Novosibirsk Nationals and making a few rubles.

your point is valid, but ... I just have to say that with two Bueckers, opponents would have to pick one to build the defense around, and the other would be open and ready for the passes that we all know nobody can stop.

Because if the overwhelming answer is YES then I think Nika may be better off playing for the Novosibirsk Nationals and making a few rubles. - Many thought Paige's ceiling for her freshman campaign was essentially what Nika achieved. Turned out, that was her floor. Yeah. She'll start
- Because of Bueckers' success, many have Azzi slotted in as a can't miss AA, and starter from the first tip. I think that is asking a bit too much, but I expect her to contribute for real by December first
- Christyn has two options. Starter and obvious All-American, or hope to be 6th player of the year. Too many top options at the SG, and most of them have position flexibility, which CW does not
- Liv will start. After three years of prioritizing the "don't foul out" mantra, there will be reinforcements this season. Hopefully, ONO will take that as a ticket to play with abandon, freeing her to be aggressive at both ends. Geno was harsh with her at the end of the season. Some take that as condemnation. I read it more in the vein that he is hardest on those from whom he expects the most. I believe in Olivia. I hope she is already working hard on becoming wall-worthy
- Evina paved Paige's ascent to greatness and cleared a path for Nika to arise as well. She served as the emotional core of the team, played four positions, and was a player/coach all year. Her maturity, fire, and grace may have been the most impactful contribution of all. I was among those who questioned why Geno would take her at all, and my contrition is complete. There will be room for her to play - a lot, hopefully on fully-recovered knees. She'll likely start early on, but that may well change as the new team finds it's identity
- Aaliyah will start if she can remain substantially out of foul trouble, else she'll be prominent as an early entry sub like she was most of this season
- Nika is the clear backup at PG, cause ... y'know ... Supergirl needs a rest sometimes, right? To start, she needs to be more valuable than Fudd and/or Williams. That means she'll have to contribute significantly on the offensive end. Doesn't need to lead the scoring, but needs to stick the three at a high clip and needs the team around her to score more when she is on the floor than when she is on the bench
- Aubrey won't start, but Geno essentially said he's wanted to press and run for years, but hasn't had the personnel, and he hopes this is the year. If that happens, AG will be in her element. Her speed, athleticism, and reflexes will thrive. If this turns out to be more of an up tempo half-court team, she'll still be a material contributor, but with slightly fewer minutes than last season
- Dorka strikes me as the (L'Engle) tesseract version of AG. Her offense will make her able to contribute, but the D may suffer when she's out there. She'll play a lot. Seems like she can play either pace and is a key to keeping opponents off their game-plan. She enters the front-court rotation immediately
- The magical mystery Mir is waiting to take us away. If they run and gun, MM plays at the end of the top rotation and makes us smile. Else, she'll be relegated to mostly the high-five squad
- Caroline, Amari, and Saylor will get audition-minutes in mop up time, and may earn some consideration for more. We should have a poll about which of the three will
- Piath takes another year to find her feet, with similar minutes to this season
That's nine and possibly ten contributors when the game is not decided. There is enough talent for two tournament teams. The challenge will be to focus it enough to beat the top teams soundly

I'll have to take a screen shot of this and attach it to my calendar for around Christmas so I can review it and see how close your analysis was. In any event: great work and effort on your part! Thanks!

I wouldn't dare enter into this complex issue, but just to say: I can't believe Christyn won't start. If I'm mistaken (and I might well be!) she played the most minutes last year. What some of us might think and what Geno actually does think may not align. What we have to appreciate especially is how difficult it is to learn the UConn system (offense and defense). The first 6 did this together all of last year, and Christyn has done it for 3 years. By the end of last year, she was the best defensive stopper on the team and her offensive cuts and movement showed that she finally "got it." It will be hard for all but Dorka to break in early on. Dorka, whatever lack of discipline she experienced at the OSU, is a 2-time B1G player. That experience alone gives her an enormous leg up on the other incomers. Besides wondering how/when Azzi shows her stuff, the most interesting thing early on will be the rotation of Liv, Aaliyah, and Dorka: how many, when, and how? Now, if Cardoso also shows up!?!

I say he needs 2 teams of 5 plus 1 players on each. Each one plays a quarter in alternation. Then there are some mop up minutes for each half.

ONO sits because she never shows up for big games and Edwards is better then her! A post and 4 guard/wings will be used but most minutes will see 2 of the ONO/Edwards/Juhasz group on the court. I'd guess that they will average 20-25 mins. I realize that squeezes a lot of talent into 3 positions but 120/5 = 24 mins/game for Westbrook, Williams, Griffin, Bueckers & Fudd. ( I'd hire that law firm)

There will be arguments about her starting, but she is going to play Most call the 2001 team the best ever. I would take Stewie's senior team for that honor, but the margin is tight. We may be watching a legit challenge to replace those two at some point over the next few years, but has there ever been this much depth? Can you imagine the opponents' scout? Here's a 200 page document, there will be a seven-hour film session after practice and showers.

Not so much about who starts, but how many minutes each plays over the course of the game. (yes, repeat...)
1. Group 1 - Paige, Nika and Azzi share the 2 guard positions. So they divide 80 minutes of playing time. Paige and Nika start 1st half. Azzi and Paige start 2nd half. Paige plays 30 minutes, the other two play 25 minutes each. (30 + 25 + 25 = 80)
2. Group 2 - Christyn, Evina and Aaliyah share the 2 wing/forward positions. (Yes, I know Aaliyah is not a wing, just keep reading.) So they divide 80 minutes of playing time. CW and EW start 1st half, Evina and Aaliyah start 2nd half. Christyn plays 25 minutes, E plays 25 minutes and Aaliyah plays 25 minutes. Wait, that's only 75 minutes..! Yes, the other 5 minutes go to the next group.
3. Group 3 - Olivia, Dorka and Aubrey share post position. So they divide 45 minutes. (40 + 5 = 45) Ono starts 1st half, plays total of 20 minutes. Dorka subs in and plays 15 minutes total. Aubrey plays 10 minutes.
Game starters = Paige, Nika, Christyn, Evina and Liv. 2nd half starters = Paige, Azzi, Evina, Aliyah and Dorka.
Notice 8 different players start 1st or 2nd half. Imagine your team is losing to UConn at the half. For the 2nd half, you face the athletic and fast group of Paige, Azzi, Evina, Aaliyah and Dorka..!! I love it..!

So when a certain player isn't having a "good game" (I hate the phrase: didn't show up - fans don't say stuff like that) we have PLENTY of backup.
