www.courant.com/sports/uconn-womens-basketball/hc-sp-uconn-women-nika-muhl-profile-20210421-20210422-z6cvzraxnvcchckvaa7fpniapm-story.html"Ascribe her passion, moxie and toughness to what you want, though Mühl and her father, Darko, paint those attributes as products of her heritage, the environment in which Nika grew up and maybe even some genetics. Wherever the case, Auriemma isn’t looking to change her. “She’s everything that you want in a player,” Auriemma said...... Mühl admits once her stubbornness gave way, everyone benefited. Auriemma may have won that battle, but doesn’t think he’ll ever win the war. And he doesn’t intend to. “I don’t want her to all of a sudden become boring. I don’t want her to become, ‘well I’ll do exactly what coach says’ and be robotic,” Auriemma said. “I just need her understand when to and when not to and how to pick her spots. ... But I want who she is.” Love, love, love this kid.

with a whole flock of shooters coming in (Azzi, Caroline, and Saylor) and no current starter leaving, unless Geno can get them to change the rules and allow for more than one basketball at a time....

Nika is my favorite. No doubt. Paige is special. Azzi will likely be special. But Nika just has that je ne sais quoi that makes her my favorite.

Geno > Nika.
Is Geno starting to mellow in his old age? Is he getting sentimental? Or is it the vino?
I like all three as an answer.

There are some who think Nika will be pushed down the bench come fall. I don't think so.
"There is a lot Mühl brings to the table that few others have. Auriemma recognizes that Mühl’s grit and tenacity stirred up the team and rubbed off on everyone else, something he expects will be even more pronounced next season. He’ll take her toughness, selflessness and spunk every day over someone who doesn’t have such fire. It is the same with her passion and will to win. Auriemma said Mühl took UConn’s Final Four loss to Arizona, her first game back from an ankle injury that kept her out of three tournament games, “just as hard, if not harder, than anybody else.”

Of course, if this is "the new normal," coaches will talk up their current players in hopes they won't enter The Portal

Nika should work on her 3 ball which is very good when she squares up and trying a mid-range jumper. Her work at the basket is good. I don't know whether her tendency to pass to the wing is her tendency or Geno's desire. I'd say percentages favor her taking the layup and maybe drawing a foul.

I honestly don't think Geno cares about the portal unless he's the one doing the shopping. Pretty sure "Don't let the door hit you in the ass on your way out" about sums it up. Yeah, Nika is my favorite too.
