I understand the point, but there is less to this than meets the eye.
I attended the press conference where Kim McNeill was announced as a the head coach of the Hartford Hawks. I had a chat with Cory McNeill her husband, and I inquired what he was going to be doing. He chose his words carefully, because Kim had not yet formally announced her staff, and stopped short of saying her would be the assistant, but I could read between the lines.
I am sure the position has been worked out, but Shea may not be able to discuss the decision prior to getting official sign-off from the school. Arguably, the school should have anticipated the question and completed whatever paperwork was needed so that Shea could answer, but it sounds like she is being appropriately careful.
This is in contrast to the story I love to tell (and hope is true) that when Geno was interviewing for UConn, and the school asked about his assistants, he responded with Chris Dailey's name, then as soon as the meeting ended, he quickly called Chris to see if she was interested.

I'd think she'd want to introduce her staff altogether. Better impact on the public. But then this isn't UConn. The spotlight is dimmer.
While I'm here ..... I wouldn't be so sure that Shea is using this job to get the UConn job. Vandy is a high prestige university, private and a member of the SEC, whose football revenue is like owning a gold-egg-laying goose. All the rah rah UConn aside Shea is a professional coach and she now has a plum job. If she is given the resources she would be nuts to come back and be the coach who follows Geno.

My impression is that while I think I follow wbb closely, I don't think I'm in your league. My impression is that announcements of new head coaches rarely include simultaneous announcements of staff. I'll defer to your knowledge if in fact it is common.
