No, but I reside in a state that wants to re-introduce a poll tax ................ Lovin' your new avatar, too, Ken!!!! Zora Neale Hurston! I became very familiar with her life and writings when I was @ SUNY Old Westbury back during the 70'! I; along with other faculty members and students, helped out @ the Feminist Press which was located on our campus at that time! I actually met Alice Walker twice on campus when the book 'I Love Myself When I'm Laughing' ... was almost ready for printing. Anthropologist Council S. Taylor was on our faculty and knew Alice Walker. He knew I had a great appreciation for both Hurston and Walker; so he introduced us! I would loved to have met Zora as well, but she had already passed; almost unnoticed! www.feministpress.org/books-a-m/i-love-myselfwww.nytimes.com/1999/07/25/classified/paid-notice-deaths-taylor-council-s-dr.html

And a political conservative! Quite an independent and creative thinker. Thanks so much for educating us on Hurston.

And a political conservative! Quite an independent and creative thinker. Thanks so much for educating us on Hurston. Were it not for Zora and other insightful, brave individuals like her, we'd have much less of an understanding of African-American life in the rural south! Whilst Zora was traveling the rural south and basically attempting to reconstruct earlier elements of it, the Dunning School was the predominant intellectual belief among US historians! Kenneth Stampp didn't write the 'Peculiar Institution' until 1956 and it took awhile for his scholarship to be accepted. Eugene Genovese, Stanley Elkins and others followed suit and we began to have a better understanding of slavery in the US! Of course, the slave narratives probably give the most authentic description of life under the boot of slavery! I often give students the option of doing extra work for extra credit with this genre of literature as one of the possible options! Charles Chesnutt has written extensively about slavery and the experiences of slaves in the US. I've often had students read some of his works for extra credit, but more importantly to open their eyes. My favorite work of his: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Conjure_Woman

Posting closes at 11:55 PM this evening. Will we have an announcement tomorrow? Assuming this was a slam dunk (posting tailored to fit a specific candidate, discussions have already taken place and all paperwork completed short of signatures, etc.) how early tomorrow do we get the announcement? I am guessing around noon if not before.

I have been surprised that the twittersphere has not erupted with rumors.

I hope Ken and swash like my avatar. The LP is in my collection, of course. Prior to this album, they weren't very well-known and didn't really have any 'hits'! In their song "Have a Cigar" on the 'Wish You Were Here' album, they sing about the problems of stardom and fame........LOL!! FYI.......I can attest that it's true many hardcore South Carolina WCBB fans still believe that the Floyd album "Piper at the Gates of Dawn" was a distant shout out to Dawn Staley...................... ..........!!

OK, please no later than noon tomorrow. So, after this, what's the next big thing that's going to drive us nuts till November? Oh, I know. Anything we here about the return of the team in June. Ok, portal is still open, I guess. Why would anyone take this long to decide? Spots on other teams are filling up.

Um, we don't exactly have a lot of spots OPEN for scholarship players, and Geno's bench is pretty long as it is.

I am a keen observer. I also successfully predicted two recent staff departures at work that no one else saw coming. Damn, I should have been a detective.

You could possibly pick up a side gig reading Tarot cards or gazing in crystal balls...I kid...but I am seriously impressed with your observational skills.
