Maybe the AD is just working to make sure the football team stays on the right side of probation.

Good article. Fair and balanced. BUT, this is Ohio State. A national sports powerhouse. Getting in the NCAA Tournament should not be the standard. They never make enough of the talent they draw in.

Maybe the AD is just working to make sure the football team stays on the right side of probation. Well I certainly lost my chance to get his job?? I called them a 'teal' instead of a team, so I guess my promise to be there tomorrow like the infamous Lady Vol Nation's Coach Jumper, is moot! If it walks like a teal, quacks like a teal and looks like one; I suppose it is!!

True. But - really - when exactly has Ohio State been all that great? Jim Foster has the best W/L percentage of all their coaches - but even the article points out the "knock" on him. Tara's was good, but she left in '85. I know Nancy Darsch had success with Kate Smith, but that was a while ago as well, and her winning percentage was actually the worst of the various coaches. Beth Burns run wasn't all that good. It isn't a WBB school, really. As a B1G sports school, they have a lot of fans that make it look better than it is, but they would need to commit big time to improving WBB from "good" to "great".

I don't follow the team but from memory I don't think Foster did much differently. And when the same problems travel from one coach to the next I wonder if the problem lies with the school. What's the womens basketball budget at tOSU like? What's their recruiting budget? Are the assistants paid a top salary? I'm not saying that's the case but there are things beyond coaching that can keep a program mired in mediocrity.

THE OSU has 19 varsity women's sports to 18 varsity men's sports ohiostatebuckeyes.com/It's always a question of putting resources where they do the most good, as linkster suggests. It looks like the women are really good at pistol shooting and riflery. I doubt the AD feels confident in shifting resources away from them!

THE OSU WBB team took a torpedo to the engine room. According to Doug Bonjour's twitter fee, Dorka Juhsz, a 6'4'' forward from Hungary is now in the portal. All big 10 the last 2 years, 15ppg, 11 reb/g. He indicated that UCONN is in the mix. Still has two years left. Need to expand my horizons, I never heard of her. If not BE or Pac 12 don't pay attention. Still 6-4. You know what I'm thinking.

Thanks so much, Rocky.
Very fast, very athletic, very active.
I hate to say this, but she looks a terrific fit for UConn. Dorka and Aaliyah out there at the same time would be very scary....
And as I wrote on another thread when she hit the portal: we lose a Pole and gain a Hungarian: sees fair....

Thanks Rocky, great stuff. Tall, fast, rebounds and shoots the three. Now THAT would be bad for basketball. So what's wrong with a little badness?

Call me Debbie Downer. She looks like a good player, but I'm not sold. Not a lot of D shown here. Not even thr primary defender in the post for most of this footage. Not a banger. Does run the floor, but so do our current bigs. Watch the clips again. Does she do anything in these that Liv would't in the same situation? What are you looking to gain? Another big body to take some fouls and maybe score a bit? She'd fit that bill, but she is not bringing the toughness we needed vs Baylor or AZ.

It is my nature to find stuff for the conversation.

I disagree with swash at my own peril. But I see an extremely actively and mobile very big forward here. She seems to me to be tough and has a very high motor.
It's hard to get her stats from last year without doing more work than I'd like, but in her only game against MD, she pulled 16 ribbies. And she can hit the 3.
Doesn't transform UConn, but adds a legitimate, big game ready, big to the rotation.

We have three bigs who are each more natural playing away from the center position. This would add another to that stable, but wouldn't solve the specific complaints of play center, and bring toughness. That doesn't mean Dorka is any less of a player nor that our coaches would shy from applying her talents to the greater benefit of our favorite team.

Thanks, swash, now I see, and, indeed, no disagreement.
I think it problematic at best that Juhsz would sign with UConn. Whatever the configuration (and add to the current rotation the need to give Amari minutes), she'd get reduced minutes from what she's had before. Of course, she might like the coaching and resume-building of going to uConn. But I imagine there are other top programs desperate for someone of her talent that would give her unlimited minutes. Or a place on the rise, like Duke, which just picked up a terrific guard from TX, might be a great landing spot.
There's so much we can discuss about centers vs big 4s and physical vs. mobile that it should be a separate thread.

Backtracking as fast as possible without tripping. Juhsz was 12-59 on 3's this season, 43% on free throws. 19 assists, 34 turnovers, 1 block per game.

OK, she's ours! Great shooter, the best. OK big G, no shots further than 6 feet out for her. On the other hand she can really run the floor and rebound. If anyone can pick the starting lineup for the opener discounting injury, well, the NSA has a job for you. Ok, glad you asked. Paige, Nika, CW, E and TBD. Why Nika? Because the boss man said "We're a different team when she's in there, a COMPLETELY different team." That was before the Arizona game. He loves players who play with an edge. He said Caroline plays with an edge too, which is why she will get more minutes than people think. Talent matters but if it's close edgy wins.
