I may not watch, or if I do it be from bed and not posting. I thought I would get off light with the second dose side effects. False sense of security. Feeling:
Headache Fatigue Nausea Some minor chills and body aches, but those have gotten worse in the last hour.
I am rooting for Arizona. If they can maintain their fire and intensity, and McDonald can score early and often they may pull it out.

Sorry, Chappy. I suspect you'll wake up tomorrow feeling fine. By tomorrow night at the latest. And then you'll feel great, knowing you've been vaxxed. Glad you started this thread. One of our kids is coming for dinner at 6:00 (he can do that now!!!!), and don't know how much I can be watching/posting until maybe the 2nd half. I'm sort of rooting for Stanford, I guess. Tara honestly had found a 2nd wind in her career, and the team has been heroic this year, living out of suitcases for 63 days. I will say, however, that Stanford is a force to be reckoned with here on out. They have terrific young players, are very long and fast, and play within themselves, very intelligently. Also, I feel sorry for anyone who goes to Stanford. An incredibly overrated school (but that's because I went to Berkeley ).

Arizona has had their huge win. The only thing going for them is that this is the 3rd meeting. Their hope is that Stanford goes cold from outside.
But beyond that, Arizona will find the officials much less blind tonight. As much publicity as there was of that last second block of Baylor's shot the refs refused to make a call in favor of UConn in the last 5 minutes of their next game, to a far greater extent than just coincidental. And it was obvious. So tonight's officials will be "briefed" not to let it happen again, making it likely they will over do it just as in the UConn-Ariz. game. I'll root for Ariz but only because they are the dogs.

The older you are, the fewer side effects. You must be young, Chappy. 🙂

I didn't attend school there, but one of my favorite Civil War / Slavery & Reconstruction historians taught there for many years! Kenneth Stampp who wrote the "Peculiar Institution" and a number of other books! I met him at a conference at Columbia back in the 70's and he was very down to earth, but brilliant!

I know that book, too, of course: it helped start an entire reassessment of slavery. Stamp was still teaching there when I was a grad. student. But I'm in ancient Greek history and never took a course from him. They had an awesome U.S. program.

So. . . does anyone have anything to say about the game?

I just tuned in a couple of minutes before the end of Q1. Stanford up 16-8. I think Arike hasn’t found her shot yet.

Arizona has closed the gap, 16-12. Stanford has not scored in Q2 yet. Until I typed that.

Good defense from Arizona, like in the FF. Stanford is having a hard time getting any shots off, because of Wildcats in their faces.

McDonald out of control. She's costing AZ. AZ is in a dangerous spot with 1:15 to go.

How nice to be interested and not stressed. Although stress has its advantages--it means UConn is in the game.

I think Aari is trying too hard to do it all. She drove into the lane, into three trees, was able to regather the bobbled ball and tried to go up again instead of passing out to one of her two open teammates.

What is it that the Arizona team chants when they are on defense? I can’t make it out.

I am going to take some Tylenol and go to bed and watch the second half on the small bedroom tv. As tired as I feel, I suspect I will have to check the final score well after the game is over.

Wow, the refereeing is absent. These teams--especially Stanford--are murdering one another. And nothing's getting called.

Stanford ahead by 10 in the third. Arizona has been behind for most of the game. I think Stanford takes this one.

Six fouls on Arizona, 11 on Stanford. Yet Stanford is leading.
Five Thirty Eight says Stanford has a 93% chance of winning this game. Maybe Chapette had the right idea.

If McDonald had played like this against UConn, UConn would be playing Stanford tonight. She's out of control and even missing open shots.
