Well deserved, and even if the AP writers' pick for Coach of the Year was questionable, they made the right choice for POY!
When can we start saying "We have Paige and they don't"?

I spent 2 years waiting for Paige to get to the Huskies, knowing that she would be terrific. But when the real thing arrived and was more than terrific I didn't know what to make of her and I'm still processing and reprocessing my thoughts of her. What I don't want to do is come to take for granted the super talent who is Paige Bueckers.

I have "loved" a lot of teams over the years. But this team is just something extraordinarily special. From Paige on down to Autumn, every single one of them is not just a great player but a great person. And the camaraderie is so visible. No egos. No jealousy.
In the event this team does not get the National Championship (and there is certainly no guarantee they will) I know I will cry. I have not cried at a loss in probably decades. But I want the NC so badly for this special group of players. Oh, I will cry too if they win.
Let's hope my tears will be tears of joy, not sadness.

Yes; when you think of the early shutdown of last season, us collectively hoping we'd even have a season now, the early season Covid interruptions, 7 FRESHMEN, Evina getting her chance to play again, the regular season ending with Geno's Covid, our team's successful assault on the River Walk Teams @ the Alamo without Geno leading them and the battle with Baylor...............WOW!!!! What a run by these amazing young women warriors!!! Students, athletes, role models, leaders & so much more.......they lead by example! I'm so PROUD of this team!!!! |

Congrats to Paige, and how surreal to realize that is happening a couple hundred feet from me. The UConn team is staying in the hotel next door, and it is clear they've been assigned a conference room for study sessions.
I'll give kudos tot he NCAA for their protectiveness. I can normally walk on the sidewalk next to the building, but when the Louisville busses were sitting there, they did not let me walk in between the bus and the building
