Quality kids in addition to being basketball prodigies. Nice touch for Paige to congratulate Caitlin

Good for both girls.
But (and this has likely been discussed here before, perhaps ad infinitum) can anyone explain to me why Paige is among the nominees for the Nancy Lieberman (point guard) award rather than the Ann Meyers (shooting guard)award. With her playmaking skills she certainly *could* be a topnotch 'point guard' but in the UConn scheme she doesn't really fit into that category, at least not to me.

Teams submit their players by position. Christyn has been the SG all season. Paige has played at the point a lot. The standard lineup early was PG for Bueckers, Williams as SG, and Evina at the Wing. Occasionally, E and P would trade spots, but not very often. That changed when Nika arrived in the starting lineup. Other than a few brief and unsuccessful tries at Small Forward, Muhl has played exclusively at the point. That bumps PB to Wing and Westbrook to the Power Forward spot vacated by Anna due to injury (and comfort level). With NM out of action and needing size and strength inside against Baylor, enter Aaliyah. Paige and Evina have shared the PG/W roles again against SU and Baylor, with Supergirl mostly at the one and Mom at the three. In the UCONN motion, the three guard roles are pretty malleable, and once they get into the full motion, it no longer matters much. When teams like Baylor dedicate a player to face-guarding Paige, and threaten to double in the backcourt, Geno encourages others to bring the ball up. Not because she cannot handle it, but why waste her efforts there, when we know she is going to play all 40 and we will need her to be fresh enough to score late. Easy peasy, since EW is also a capable PG, as is Nika.

This is an excellent analysis, but it still seems to me that the #1 job of a point guard is to bring the ball up the floor, size up the defense, and initiate the offense, and if memory serves, (and it may not) even in the early going before Nika settled into the position, Paige brought the ball up the floor less than half the time, for the reasons you cite. But if one's own coach is doing the designating of who will be playing what position very early in the season, rather than the assessment of opposing coaches who have to game-plan against the reality, I can see how that could happen. And somehow, I think, a little more esteem attaches to the position of point guard, basketball's version of a quarterback, dating back to the days of Cousy and Sharman.

Generally true, but bringing the ball into the frontcourt isn't exclusively the PG. Geno has credited Wooden for having others bring it up, giving a scoring PG more flexibility upon receiving a pass.
