Thank you so much, DD and David for posting this. I waited up for it, and now I can (try to) go to sleep.
David's point about so few assists just shows how tough it was underneath. The UConn guards did practically all the scoring. And Baylor was just too well coached to allow the pick-and-roll. As often as not, they jumped the lane and intercepted.

Can't wait to watch Dawn and Vic beat each other's brains out tonight. IMO, Tara is going to get the best of Jeff. Just saying.

THANKS you guys. Yeah, some of those individual stats for the Huskies were probably the weirdest we've ever seen. You could put handcuffs and a straightjacket on Supergirl and still not hold her to zero assists. Mostly Baylor D but also lack of movement by the Huskies. On the other hand, it's tough to move when you being grabbed, mugged, knocked down, clobbered, etc. The Huskies gave it right back to them though. Shrinking violets need not apply. Glad the refs let them play, otherwise both teams would have fouled out.

13 consecutive final fours is indeed unfathomable in this day and age. But it should be mentioned that only a technicality kept UCLA from matching that record. The Bruins went to the Final Fours in 12 of John Wooden's last 13 years. And the only reason they didn't make the Final Four in 1965-66, was because Lew Alcindor and his freshman classmates Lynn Shackleford, Luciua Allen et al, were freshmen, and weren't eligible at that time. In a pre-season exhibition game that year the freshmen beat a good (18-8, and 10-4 in the conference) varsity team 75-60 in the first game played at Pauley Pavilion. www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-1990-11-27-sp-5543-story.html

1. Paige with 28 points & 0 assists. 🤔 4. Paige, Christen and Eviba scored 60 points, had only 2 assists. 5. The Huskies blocked 10 shots, got only 9 assists. ~~~~~~~
So much of this game was reminiscent of some of our recent losses, especially the tendency for some of the better players to try to do too much individually, rather than patiently running their offense. The losses to Mississippi State and Notre Dame were the result of offensive impatience. Good defenses can stay with crisp cuts through the key and well-executed picks and rolls for a quarter or two, but eventually it gets hard to chase. It's much easier to defend against players who drive into the key and throw up an off-balance prayer. I haven't seen the number but we must have missed a dozen shots from within three or four feet.
Olivia, again, looked nervous and failed to assert herself very much on offense, but thankfully she did some yeoman work on the boards.

Over on the Tenn board (where there are so many surprisingly insightful and fair-minded posters that I'm actually enjoying reading it) one Evina basher (some remain hostile) called her Evion by mistake. Someone else responded to the effect that Geno prefers wine to bottled water.
