I just had lunch with Isaiah. OK, a bit of exaggeration we weren't at the same table, but we were in adjacent booths separated by 8 feet. He came in today to watch the game tonight.
Isaiah is Liv's younger brother. I asked what he called her and he said Liv or Coco.
He said last time he played her one-on-one he beat her. (I asked permission to share the story)
On the one hand he is still in high school.
On the other hand, he is 6' 10".
He was very polite, when he would rather be on his phone or eating, rather than talking to a fan. I didn't want to pester, but I did want to ask a couple questions.

A true celeb right here on our board. Awesome! Actually the favorite celebrity contact I hand was going back stage at the break and talking with Peter, Paul & Mary while still in college. Peter and Paul were great and wanted to talk about the social issues that had colleges all stirred up. Mary was preoccupied with how her songs were being received - had her head together with two guys on that subject of how do they love me.

Well, I once rode in the CT Limo with Danny K.
And I also shook hands at ND with Tina in the hall of the Purcell center and told her I was a UCONN fan in disguise. And she gave me the most amazing smile! I'll never forget it!
Aren't you guys delirious!!!

Hey Phil, How did you know who he was? After reading all these stories I feel like I have to make up something impressive, but I had said something like Go UConn and when he saw me sit down, he made some comment about UConn, and I asked why he was at the game and he said his sister was playing, so I asked who that would be. That how I figured out who he was, but that's not how I got his name. I thought it might be a bit presumptuous to ask, but luckily, the woman at the next booth over was the mother of Britney Anderson, the Stanford assistant coach and she asked him his name.

I think I heard the Meatloaf story, but I didn't know about the SST flight with Angie - very impressive. I'm trying to decide which is cooler - flying with Angie, or flying on the SST.

Ok for my celebrity siting. I sat in 1st class with Carry Fischer and Meryl Steep on a flight once. Ok, they sat in the seats ahead of us. But I did help Meryl get her bag out of the overhead.

I think I heard the Meatloaf story, but I didn't know about the SST flight with Angie - very impressive. I'm trying to decide which is cooler - flying with Angie, or flying on the SST. That flight is good for a couple of chuckles. I checked out in London and headed to Heathrow. I got there and it was a mad house. The bag handlers were on strike and every other union was honoring it. The main terminal was filled with people doing what they could to be comfortable. There were Indians cooking on charcoal grills! Don't you pack your grill? Well, the SST was a combined venture of the French and British and they were not subject to the vagaries of the British Unions. I was approached by an SST person who asked me if I'd like to fly an SST due to fly to NY in a couple of hours. Whipped out the Don't Leave Home Without It. SST used the British baggage handlers ordinarily so they were having management personnel to load the plane. I was whisked away to SST's own executive lounge. Fifteen minutes later a young lady, one of the flight crew, came in an advised us that they were 21 meals short for passengers and crew and would you raise your hand if you would forego your meal. I'll bet you know what happened. 14 of us stuck are hands up lickety split. (Angie was one of us) No one else would budge and some fool yelled out that the flight crew should give up their meals. The departure time came and went and then the Captain came in -the Brits do this stuff so well - and said if anyone thought they would get free tickets or the like to give up their meal they "were sadly mistaken". Instead 7 of those who will not give up their meal will be escorted from the lounge and we will depart with any luggage you checked. The hold outs deflated and we boarded and went supersonic.

My lame claims to fame:
My dad worked in the audio visual/PR department for the Union Pacific Railroad. They used an Omaha advertising firm named Bozell & Jacobs as their ad agency. My dad would go out and do the filming for the Union Pacific commercials and assist with putting the commercials together. "We Can Handle It" was one campaign and a campaign that featured a song called "We're a Great Big Rolling Railroad". A guy named Bill Fries worked for Bozell & Jacobs and he wrote the song along with a fellow by the name of Chip Davis. My dad, by virtue of his job with UP worked closely with these two fellows and became friends.
Bill Fries later went on to create a television campaign for the Old Home Bread brand of the Metz Baking Company. The advertisements told of the adventures of truck driver C.W. McCall, his dog Sloan, and of the truck stop that McCall frequented, The Old Home Café. The commercials were very successful. So successful, that the Des Moines Register published the air times of the commercials in the daily television listings. This ad campaign ultimately won a 1974 CLIO for Best U.S. Television Campaign.
From these commercials came the first of the C.W. McCall songs, named after the restaurant: “Old Home Fill-er Up An’ Keep On A-Truckin’ Café”. Chip Davis wrote the music, Bill Fries the lyrics. Oh, and Bill Fries also sang the songs as the voice of C.W. McCall.
A follow-up song because a nationwide hit, "Convoy". From that song came the movie "Convoy" directed by Sam Peckinpah and starred Kris Kristofferson, Ali MacGraw, Ernest Borgnine, Burt Young among others. You might have heard of it.
In any event, when the movie "Convoy" was released, there was a big premiere party in Omaha. None of the actual stars were there, but Bill Fries (C.W. McCall) and Chip Davis were there. Did I mention that Chip Davis founded Mannheim Steamroller - you know, the group that does all the cool Christmas music (before the Trans-Siberian Orchestra was a thing). My dad got two tickets and we went to see the movie and then attend the "after party" at the French Cafe.
As it just so happened, Shaun Cassidy had a concert in Omaha that same night. And their after party was also at the French Cafe. I was a little too old for the young girl crush on Shaun Cassidy, but when I got up to went to the ladies room at one point, he was apparently returning from a trip to the men's room and we brushed arms as we passed each other.
There was the time I was on the national news (NBC Nightly News). But that is another story for another time.

Raymond Burr coming out of a bar? There's got to be a lawyer joke in there somewhere. A man stomps into a bar, obviously angry. He growls at the bartender, "Gimme a beer", takes a slug, and shouts out, "All lawyers are ***holes!" A guy at the other end of the bar retorts, "You take that back!" The angry man snarls, "Why? Are you a lawyer?" The guy replies, "No, I'm an ***hole!" source: jokes4us.com/barjokes/lawyersinbarsjokes.html
