Christyn has been a much maligned player in her time at UConn.
In the past couple months, CW has looked every bit like a player that was the number one rated player in her high school class. If she has started on this role just a bit earlier, she would have been a first team All-American. As a matter of fact, I would not trade CW for Rhyne Howard or Dana Evans who did make 1st team AA.
If CW plays 3 more games similar to today's, UConn will be hard pressed to not be the national champs.

It's a little weird that both Charles and Williams "saw the light" in January of their junior years?

It's a little weird that both Charles and Williams "saw the light" in January of their junior years? Players mature when they mature. And, ponder this: Time in college ball is finite. Look, as a freshman, you have 4 years ahead of you. When you finish your soph year, you have only 2. I also suspect some coaching contributed to this to some degree, at least with Tina. We know in the Stamford loss in the FF when Tina was a soph, Geno flat out said to the team and on camera that (and I paraphrase) 'We don't have post play'. Wake up call, I think. With Williams, I do not believe this happened in such a direct way, though I cannot possibly say for sure since whatever may have been said if anything was not done as publicly as Tina. Whatever, he sure is singing her praises now. |
