Good to see E is getting props, especially over there.

IIRC, in the interview that they were criticizing Evina for, she was getting pressed by the reporters until she said there was a coaching problem. She tried to avoid saying it.
Her mom, on the other hand, said it outright.
I’m glad both of them are happy with UConn.

Her mom, on the other hand, said it outright. I’m glad both of them are happy with UConn. I believe she said there were some off the court issues that needed to be addressed as well. That could have been coaching, or it could have been player cohesion issues off the court that led to some on the court problems. One disgruntled player or a personality conflict can impact the whole team chemistry. And then, of course, there is the fan input, criticizing her play and leadership. And was her injury handled properly? That could be considered an off court issue. I suspect it was a complicated mix of issues that lead to her unhappiness and decision to transfer.

Much as I would lover to have one more year of Evina, I think she would be a fool to pass up a top 5 pick in the W.

I really had my doubts about Evina when she transferred to UConn. She had been a high profile but rather inoonsistant (in the games I saw) player and UT always seemed like one of the least cohesive teams in the country in recent years -- and in their final loss this year. Lots of dribbling, lots of 1-on-3, not much movement without the ball.
But she has just been a revelation at UConn, doing everything well, if not spectacularly, while playing with a quiet confidence and poise that gets transmitted to the younger players by means of intra-generational osmosis.

I think she’s been too unselfish lately, I feel like she’s passing up a lot of shots. I really respect E but I don’t see her as a top 5 player in the upcoming draft. I mean she’s probably our 3rd or 4th best player on our team.

I think she's a player who could double her scoring if she wanted. She scored nearly that in her 2nd year at Tenn. There are some players who play well within themselves in college and then really burst open in the pros. I think she'll be one of them.

Given the "style of play" and the coaching at UTENN, I find it difficult, especially in the post Pat years to gauge any Vol player's abilities. Anybody with solid skills takes a back seat to the "stars" who usually lose their light when the going gets tough, and the coaching is so bad that how they use their players really does not gel with what the player actually can do. It's a mess IMO. I am very, VERY happy that Evina came here, got proper treatment for her injuries, got to be a part of a team that clearly loves her and a coaching staff that trusts her. What she does next may not be an easy choice for her. I wish her well.

Here’s an idea: play two more years at UConn and get grad degree (s) and then immediately be hired for great salary as UConn assistant coach letting jamelle get back to administration job she likes. E is clearly a great leader of young women.

What I love about Spider's idea is that the current state of Evina's knees are so suspect A WNBA career risks only pain, woe, and disappointment; perhaps being cut.
And yet, what a lovely mind, finely developed skills, uniquely positive character (despite what we were told back in UTenn) and great leadership ability.
Hanging around UConn, participating here, actually might offer the rehab potential that might actually make a late entry pro career, a reasonable choice.
And the value to our team in the meantime would be inestimable.

Evina has a lot to think about. That is for sure.
