They have to try to hype other players and teams...otherwise, you know, they just fuel the "ESPN favors UConn" rumors.

I think the title of that article should be: What's Exciting about Women's College Basketball besides UConn.

Three out of seven analysts think Baylor will beat us and we won't therefore make the final four. They should read DD's comments on people who think this, and put clothespins on their noses before they do. I'm cheering for DD on this one.

I was thinking about putting together a post for DD's blog, but you've hit some of the high point so I'll just throw in my two cents.
I have basketball friends from other states (I know this claim alone will raise eyebrows). When I mentioned some ESPN article that says something favorable about UConn they typically dismiss it, saying "what you expect, ESPN's headquartered in Connecticut". I know better but I guess I have to understand why they might think that. I now have pretty good fodder for a response.
UConn is picked by the AP and the coaches poll as the number one team in the nation. Seven ESPN commentators make their tournament picks, and not a single one of them picks Connecticut to win the whole thing. If there is truly UConn bias, you'd think at least some of them would pick UConn. _________________________________________________________________________________________
