UConn recruit and this was alluded to by Geno Auriemma when Geno spoke via Zoom to the Chamber of Commerce!! Ayanna Patterson was named as the likely other 2022 recruit and here's her Tweet referencing her announcement this coming Saturday 3/20: Here's some UConn Recruiting Info: wbbblog.com/uconn-womens-basketball-recruiting/2/

If she is smart, she will stay FAR away from ND. By all accounts that program is a complete mess right now.

And UCLA recruits well, but doesn't play well. And who wants to live in Louisville? That seems to leave one obvious choice.

Did you guys see the link to the 2023 prospects on the above mentioned website? There is a 6'4" sophomore from South Carolina named Riley Stack who shows great potential. About a 5 minute video. Very good mid range jumper, excellent unselfish passer. Seems to really run the floor. Although right handed she uses her left hand about as well as any recruit I've seen. Ballhandling needs work, tends to glance down at the ball while dribbling but it's manageable. Good timing when going up to block shots, is able to keep space between herself and the shooter. I know, tough to get her away from Dawn but probably worth the effort. A couple more inches in height and it won't be probably, it will be all out effort to get her.

We're living in an age of unbelievable talent. Suddenly, over the past 5-7 years, the high schoolers have gotten so much better. Lots of reasons for this, of course, especially better recognition of the importance of women's basketball has led to easier access to elite training programs.

Sorry, exactly what is going on at MissState? I seem to have missed their drama.

Sorry, exactly what is going on at MissState? I seem to have missed their drama. Vic Schaefer left Mississippi State and was replaced by Nikki McCray. however, Mississippi state which was national runner-up in 2017 in 2018, and made the elite eight in 2019, so was seen as one of the premier teams in the country and definitely near the top of the pecking order in the SEC has not had a great year. Despite the change in coach, they were initially expected to do well this year, ranked number six in the AP preseason poll. They drop down to 14th with their second loss, then to 18th with their fourth loss, down to 24th with their fifth loss, and dropped out of the rankings on February 8. They ended the season just one game over 500 at 10 – 9 and did not make the tournament. Massey rates them at number 37. I don't know whether there is some inside drama, but dropping from number six to number 37 qualifies as significant.

I knew about the coaching change, but did not realize their record this year was so poor. That is a significant drop indeed. From the tone of the thread, I was not sure if there was something else going on in the program, a la the ND activity of late. Much appreciated!

Lots of reasons for this, of course, especially better recognition of the importance of women's basketball has led to easier access to elite training programs. More publicity, more scholarships, a viable career path, declining participation in other sports, more success in more WCBB programs (both cause and effect), WNBA impact from rookies....

Notre Dame will always be able to leverage or renew leverage on its brand name, like it does in football. Miss State will be just another school that had a good program for a while and then faded.

And UCLA recruits well, but doesn't play well. And who wants to live in Louisville? That seems to leave one obvious choice. I grew up in Louisville. Still have a brother and a sister (and family) in the greater Louisville area. Have friends there. People are usually nice, April and May are beautiful, cost of housing is low, food is good, music can be wonderful. Having said that, if you told me that I could live anywhere in the USA that I wanted to, Louisville would not be near the top of the list. Higher than Knoxville, certainly, and most places south of of Nashville and west/southwest of Atlanta (until you reach my beloved New Mexico), but, man, you indeed can do better than Louisville.

As Alexa said in her header on the Courant, she's going to continue "Making CT Bad for Basketball". Did not know she could 2-handed dunk....
