All A's. I am frankly a little surprised Sam Brunell is not there. But, a ND education is nothing to sneeze at.
I guess something had to give. 15 players on the roster this year. Only two seniors, one grad transfer. How many recruits coming in for next season? Niele must have had a heart to heart with them and told them there would be no room at the inn for them next year, at least playing time wise.
The transfer portal is jam packed with the potential for even more to enter as each team's season winds down. Oh, what has the NCAA wrought with the immediate eligibility decision?

And that's just the "A's"!! Notre Dame kids are smart and they do things alphabetically!!! On the other hand; Tennessee kids transfer willy nilly!!

Ivey's off to a great start. Managed to run off 60% of her freshman class. She personally recruited the two guards, #27 Campbell and #44 Hayes, and then recruited right over them this year with Miles and Citron. Campbell played 28 minutes in each of the first two games then never played after Dec.20 for a lousy team? HS recruiting contacts notice this stuff.

What if no one takes a person in the portal?

What if no one takes a person in the portal? Then they float in outer space forever, I think.

What if no one takes a person in the portal? A legitimate question. I think that the top 20% or so, of rated players in the portal, will find a landing spot without much trouble. Not so sure about the rest. They may have to settle for programs on a much lower level than they initially expected.

What if no one takes a person in the portal? I hadn't considered this. Since this is the first year the NCAA has opened up immediate eligibility, the dam has burst with so many players entering the portal. But, if there are a high enough number of players that do not get picked up, I would expect to see less folks entering the portal in the future. Especially those lower in the recruiting rankings before entering college. If supply exceeds demand it stands to reason that the supply would be reduced as a matter of course.

This is an interesting thought experiment, but there are a LOT of lower-ranked teams, some of which can't find enough players to use their available scholarships. I suspect there will be demand, but not necessarily from a more-desired destination. Some schools would take kids back if the options for transfer weren't accepted. I expect a lot of that in coming years at middle ranked schools, where a player can show that she was under-appreciated, and test the waters to see if she can break into a higher program. But the coach will be happy to have her back if the golden ticket doesn't materialize. The mens side has a lot of movement by kids who are good, but a notch below where they went. That'll poabably increase on the women's side.

I hadn't considered this either. First couple years chaos. Then, the realization that no other big school besides the one I'm at needs or want's me. Exiled to mid or lower D1, no more TV games, no more really nice stuff. No more flying, just long bus rides. No fans or big network of fans to help in the real world after graduation. Play me or keep me coach.

I wonder if we have seen the last of ND players entering the portal? I am guessing the "legacies" (Mabrey and Westbeld) stay put.

Maybrey has only a shrinking window in which to show she's WNBA caliber. Being on a team barely breaking .500 in a top heavy conference with not much quality after NCST and Louisville, and not much hope for breaking into that top group... doesn't bode well. I could see a possible consideration

And yet, she sort of proves this rule: on a weaker team, she got featured much more and has a viable pro career ahead of her now.

In Europe anyway. I doubt she would make a WNBA team.
