I know Dawn dressed as she did at the game as a tribute to John Cheney (RIP). I think she channeled him in the presser as well. I mean really??? THE BALL caused you to lose???

To be fair to Dawn ... and I have joined in the teasing ... I have listened again and I read it this way now ... Dawn is unhappy with her team for falling short on a night the mighty UCONN was very beatable. She calls out the areas her players fell short. Layups missed. Decision-making. And not adjusting to the different ball. She does not say that her team lost because of the ball. She says her players should have dribbled less or more forcefully in response to the ball. Most of her presser is directed to (at) her team. Both teams come away from that game feeling like they played poorly at their offensive end. SCar certainly feels like the game was in their grasp with the most minor of ... changes. Both feel they would have won big with their "A" game. All sides should expect their opponent to play better next time.

Good points, Swash. And at least she didn't do a Joanie P and throw them team individually and collectively under the bus.

They didn't have any problem adjusting in 5 of the 6 SEC road games where they used Nike balls this year. The only difference was that they won those games. She may have been a good PG in her day but it doesn't appear to translate into being able coach one well. She had no answers while watching Henderson drive their bus off the cliff with 8 TOs and have no idea how to get the ball to Saxton and Boston inside where they could do whatever they wanted against UConn's interior defense. She's a lousy situational game coach and nowhere near the BB genius a lot of people think she is. Her playing career has allowed her a teflon coating amongst her fans and peers.

Lord knows that we've had our own layup problems here @ UConn........

She's a good coach, but not a great one IMO! @ UConn we're fortunate to have Geno & CD for more than 3 decades, along with some really good assistant coaches! Henderson & Cooke combined for 12 turnovers while Paige & Nika had 5!! Just a few days before our game, SC was crowing about having the best back court in WCBB? Paige & Nika; 2 freshmen, schooled Dawn's back court! We out-scored them 39-22 and had 8 steals to their 0 - yes ZERO! Paige & Nika remained focused & in the moment all game, but I can't say the same for Dawn's duo!! Dawn expected to win this game and she just couldn't believe what happened to her team! The game could have gone either way, but we pulled it out! She should have taken some responsibility for the loss and given credit to UConn, but she babbled on about the Nike ball?? She'd better get used to losing to UConn because we've got 3 1/2 more years of Paige and the freshmen!! Then we reload next year with Azzi and crew!! I like our chances! I'm no fan of Dawn's!!!

Geno brought her on as an asst. for team USA. Then he recommended her to be the next HC. She had some success at Temple, and has succeeded in making SCar a legit player in recruiting and in game results, even as superstar players have come and gone on to the W. In terms of credibility, that ain't chump change . Since the GOAT still says he is still improving his methods, it should be no surprise that the much younger Dawn still has areas for growth. I don't always like her methods and she is a bit more combative than I might prefer, but she is a top coach and SCar is a top program.
