It's been a big topic of conversation on this board and TOB.
It seems we are all sure that Dawn will have her team jostle around Paige trying to make it difficult for her. Dawn pretty much said that.
My own personal feeling is she has been dealing with teams trying to be physical with her for years. Including HS of course.
She has always been the center of attention for all team's defenses. Some more physical than others.
And she has always been able to slip and slide around the physical play, and deal with it when the make contact.
Of course my favorite poster Vowelguy, had to add his sarcastic comment when someone had the nerve to say that Marquette was physical with her.
"Surely you're not comparing the defense of the #1 team in the country with non-top 30 teams."
For one, Marquette is No. 45 in the Net standings. Not bad.
And they do play a physical defense. You don't have to be the NO. 1 team in the country to do that.
The last thing I'm worried about is Paige being physically intimated.

I worry more than some idiot may injure her, say a knee bang or clip to the jaw -not intentional, just in the flow of it all.

Bumping and holding and such, probably will. I agree that Paige has been the center of attention for defenses for years, and will add that Geno and crew have seen such defenses "a few times" over the years as well. It is possible that they will have an idea or two for easing that strategy

A lot depends on the refs and how close they want to call it. It'd be better if Gampel were packed with screaming fans, but it's still up to the refs to protect players or let them play.
Not that it would have made a huge difference probably (the injured offensive tackles were the deciding issue), but the way the refs intruded in the Superbowl last night was really to Tampa Bay's advantage.

Tonight may well be her toughest game to date, but Paige relishes big challenges! She may not look real tough, but she is! Just as you've stated; she's been the center of attention for years and other teams have often gotten very physical with her! The 2 DePaul games saw her getting held, pushed and jostled quite a bit and the same happened in other games including a few errant elbows! She's still playing hard, having fun , making her team mates better and shooting lights out!! During the 4th quarter of the first DePaul game when # 11 Sonya Morris gave her an out of bounds push, Paige just had an annoyed look on her face made and continued to play hard! When they try to punish her, she gets even with a 3 point shot, a steal, a great pass to an open team mate or a good defensive play! She's got a smarter basketball mind than anyone else on the court, a better shot, a better handle, better defensive & offensive anticipation.......I could go on!!!! Yeah; she looks like a modern day Olive Oyl to the uninformed, but when she's on that basketball court she's Popeye just after he's inhaled spinach!! She's BAD!! When Marquette Coach Duffy threw a zone at Paige and UConn, what did she do? She bombarded them with made 3 point shots and made it look easy as she fired away!! She also showed Marguette that school was in session and that they missed the chapter on baseline 101!! That insane shot she made reminded me of Dr J back in the day!! If you watch it, you'll see that Paige had a plan. As she went along the baseline and under the basket, she kept the ball in her left hand to shield it from the Marquette players. Then as she went past the basket she looked up to see where she was, put the ball quickly into her right hand and banked it off the backboard with just enough backspin to score!!! IMO South Carolina is not gonna be ready for what Paige brings and I see a win tonight, but it'll be a TEAM win with a big assist from the Paige Bueckers Show!! Schools in session....... ....Paige will be up for the challenge again!!
