Great report, DD. Fingers crossed on the outcome, and I agree that the energy and brashness of our freshmen will count for a lot. It is a sad thing that the only crowds they've played in front of, however, have been hostile ones. Both, of course, SEC games were very close, winning one; losing one. Neither team as good as SC, so fingers crossed here...

I'm hoping we play our best game of this season and give SC a payback beat down that puts Dawn Staley in hysteria with a nice spritz of gloom!!

Do we gain any advantage with our posts being able to run the floor better than Boston? Seems like we should be able to get some easier transition scores going.

I'll be very interested to look at Edward and Ono in tandem. If they could really get it going (they haven't quite yet) we'd have a post presence to contend with.

DD, I was going to go to the SC website but why bother, we've got you, great report. Man, do I ever hope your right about the outcome. It would be MEAN if they lost again. UCONN Nation has always loved the Huskies but this team is different. The personalities, the closeness of the players, I think we've all really fallen especially hard for this crew.

Not like Edwards but still pretty good. The question is how long? Last season she had stamina issues but so far this season she seems to be going just as hard late in games as early. If ONO and Edwards together can just match Boston's production UConn will likely win. Keep in mind that these Gamecocks haven't played many big games either. UConn has 2 players who played in a final four. For last year's freshmen this will be their first NCAA's, and in a strange environment. I think a lack of focus and mental discipline will send a lot of P-5 teams home in the first 2 rounds. Right now, except for Bueckers, the best thing for me about this team is their energy and emotion. That's what matters most to me on Mon. Give the same sort of effort as at Marquette.

I'll bet Nelson-Ododa and Edwards both start. Once they show they can dominate, Geno will put in smaller, quicker players.
Or maybe once they get a couple of fouls. . . :-(
