See her shut the Gampel lights down? The freshman phenom has dropped 20-plus points in each of the last three games, two of which were against ranked opponents, and has done so at an incredibly efficient rate. She’s set a new career high in scoring in two of the last three games, and Wednesday against St. John’s scored the most points in a game for a UConn freshman since Tina Charles put up 34 in February 2007. What’s notable about Bueckers’ recent stretch is that she’s not only shooting early and often, but that she’s making shots at an ridiculously efficient rate. Since returning from her ankle injury, Bueckers is 31 of 50 from the floor (62 percent) and 13 of 16 on 3s. You read that right: 13 of 16. That’s 81 percent. Those numbers were bolstered by her 13-for-20 (5-for-6 on 3s) outing Wednesday, which per Her Hoop Stats was the most efficient 30-plus-point game by a freshman this season. www.courant.com/sports/uconn-womens-basketball/hc-sp-uconn-women-st-johns-follow-20210205-20210204-zxx7krke2fctno3wd3we3ixo4i-story.html

I've been thinking lately how nice it would be in four or five years, when lists of UConn's best starting five ever are produced, if Paige and Azzi could finally knock Bird and Taurasi off the list. A lofty dream, but it would be cool to witness.

A lofty dream, but it would be cool to witness. That's a mighty high standard... arguably the best PG in women's basketball history and the best player overall in that history.... I would settle for spectacular and successful founders of the second UCONN Mt Rushmore, but yours would be nice, too.
