Even though the opponents record may be a bit misleading, it's fun to have a game where it means something. A battle for first place gives it a little more juice then it probably deserves.

NOW I remember why Marquette coach Megan Duffy sounds familiar - she played for the Muffet at ND and was also an assistant to Kim Barnes Arico at Michigan. Hmmm. Let's see who she emulates on Friday - Muffet or Kim.

Nice. I expect Marquette will bounce back from their terrible shooting last time out. They've been pretty similar to UCONN in pts allowed vs common opponents, with a couple of stinkers. It was fun to see STJ try pressing a team with three point guards on the floor. That didn't turn out so well for them. Yes, two are first-year players, but one of them has played professionally, and the other should be an All American when those lists come out.

IT would be great to have some of the great dribbling in highlights sometimes. The dribs rarely make it.

As their experience grows this eventually will be Showtime part 2. Did you guys catch what Geno said after the game about Paige's long bounce pass that went awry? He tells her the only player he's ever seen make that play is Magic Johnson and he is STILL the only one to make that play. Paige goes "It slipped". Geno tells her he should have slipped her to the bench. Hilarious. Every other coach would have gushed over the great game she had and left it at that, but it was a teachable moment and Geno did it with his wicked sarcastic humor. I'm sure Paige laughed but she got the point.

Further, I remember a couple of those from Moriah, and I believe Anna at least once just last season. Entirely valid to question whether the risk is worth the reward, and I appreciate Geno's way of making the lesson ... unforgettable

I'm sure Paige laughed but she got the point. That was about - for me - the only likeable part of Geno's presser. This started last year for me and ramped up this year - Geno is increasingly grumpy and he is given to pontificating. Now I fast forward sample his pre and post pressers, looking for meaningful information. I though I'd get a migraine as he indulged that silly question about the source of this year's injuries. He's a basketball genius and it has been a horrible year so I have to learn to cut him some slack. I'm early in my learning curve.
