That was one of the worst coached halves I've seen in quite awhile. Q, for Syracuse, had his team play a zone in the first quarter. That in itself wouldn't be bad if the team had any idea on how to play a zone. ND got any kind of shot they wanted, including several undefended shots from point blank range. That resulted in a 28 point first quarter for ND. Syracuse played man to man in the second quarter and ND managed only 16 points. The other mindless instruction is, evidently, every Syracuse player has the green light to shoot a 3 !! They took 23 3 point attempts in the first half, making only 6.

Syracuse came from way behind. Should win this game: up 8 with 90 seconds to go.
Sam's having a big game: maybe healthier?

Syracuse has an eight point lead with just a minute to play. Nine points, shooting free throws. Ten points.

Unbelievable. Notre Dame had a 15 zero run in the first quarter to open up a 13 point lead. Syracuse clawed a little bit of that back in the second and third quarters, but had a 23-4 fourth-quarter to win by 12.

Syracuse wins by 12. They beat ND decisively after losing the first quarter by 13 (No more zone D). Winning the last 3 quarters by 25 including 23-4 in the fourth quarter. ND had 2 field goals in the 4th quarter. One at 6:54 and the other at the 4:23 mark. Amazing.

The win probability chart is also interesting. Syracuse started out favored because they are the better team, and had better than an 80% chance of winning partway through the first quarter. After Notre Dame's run, Notre Dame was favored, and the probability of winning climbed to over 90% in the third quarter. Even though Syracuse was cutting into the lead, they were running out of time, so the win probability for Notre Dame was still going up even as Syracuse started to close the margin. Notre Dame was still favored halfway through the final quarter, but then Syracuse is dominant quarter took over, and Syracuse became favored about the time they took the lead.

Maybe it's just happenstance, but I feel like I've watched a number of 15 point leads disappear this year.

ND fans must be apoplectic. Bless their hearts.

Muffet's Bench is generating a list of dirtbag coaches and Geno of course is prominent among them. Disappointing, but it is okay, they are all forgetable.

They are saying their freshman scoring machine has hit the wall. Conceding they are not headed to the NCAAs.

Olivia Miles was in this game. Must be a highschool baller joining mid semester.

Olivia Miles was in this game. Must be a highschool baller joining mid semester. Miles was admired by a lot of UConn fans when they thought Fudd might go elsewhere. According to those who saw her play she is ready to step in. N Dame is probably the only program to keep UConn on their schedule no matter what (except 2013). I want them back in the top 10, if only to make the ACC more interesting.

Olivia Miles was in this game. Must be a highschool baller joining mid semester. Very impressive. A true point guard, which apparently Notre Dame doesn't otherwise have.
