Thanks, guys. Note that Chelsea Dungee got nearly half of her points from the line. This seems to be normal for her. She drives into traffic and counts on the referees to blame any contact on the defenders while throwing up wild shots ... a fair number do fall into the basket, even when she is completely out of control at the time of the shot. Make her beat you from outside. She'll get a few, but fall short of her expected points. Also, the rest of the team is not used to scoring off her passes or initiating on their own. Destiny (one of three with that first name on their roster) Slocum is similar. Let them go inside, and we'll be dependent on the refs to only call the actual fouls. No driving layups means a UCONN victory. Hope Paige is doing better!

I guess technically Georgia beating Arkansas wasn't upset because Georgia was ranked 22 and Arkansas 19, but the game was at George's home, and with two teams that closely ranked the home-court advantage is enough to give Georgia the edge. Massey had Georgia winning by five, so Arkansas beat the spread not that that means much.

Hope Paige is doing better! +1 M. I saw a tweet of the team huddle before the game, in which she was booted and Anna was splinted. I happened to have slept at a Holiday Inn Express last night, so I can give a medical diagnosis. Anna may take some time: I know that splint, and it addresses issues that can go on and on and on. I suspect we won't see her on the court until March. Paige of course "just" rolled her ankle. Kids heal fast, depending on how well they controlled the swelling. Guessing Thursday is a game time decision for her.

Regarding Paige and swelling I was surprised that she was standing in the "locker room" cheering Evina and not elsewhere on ice. I suspect any advantage to icing was lost with her playing taped.
Doggy's mention of would Paige start, I thought she would from the get go or no later than January, but I was amazed how many fans just went with Geno doesn't start freshmen, a dogma which doesn't even have historical roots.

I didn't subscribe to that false axiom, but I didn't believe she would start right away. Indeed, it was hard for me to believe my eyes, the way she played right out of the gate. The word in November was that she was great, but Azzi might be greater still. I now find that impossible to believe: don't know how a player can be greater than Paige has been. Even the Tenn game only added to the legend. She shook off the nerves and triumphed.

She may have a modest edge on Paige with long range shooting, but not much and maybe none at all if we are talking what matters - game action. Paige is quicker than Azzi and , this is hard to measure, I think she may have greater court vision than Azzi and better passing.

From what I have seen, Azzi has the clear edge in shooting, especially from three - but Paige is ... pretty good. Paige is a much better passer, but Azzi is no slouch. Both can create their own shot off the dribble. Azzi's are perhaps less spectacular, but maybe even more effective. Paige is a better defender. Paige wins in rebounding. but Azzi is not afraid to stick her nose in there. Both are 5'11". Azzi is solid and will not be pushed around. Azzi gets even more and-one opportunities after scoring through contact. Azzi can get her shot off in no time, so she is effectively never defended closely enough. If a good pass comes, a shot can follow. Both are good at the tiny move to clear space, and both are good at making smart decisions about what to do with the time it takes their defender to recover. Paige is less dependent on her shots falling, and can impact the game in a lot of ways. In tandem, they're going to be extremely difficult to stop. ... and a ton of fun to cheer on.
