Well, speaking of Maine, and nuts, we are off to Maine tomorrow so we can walk on the beach, eat some great food and relax before I dive back into the busiest 3 months of my work year. The next month (June) being the craziest. And BTW, Rocky, the smoke from the Alberta fires has been gunking up CT skies for a few days now. Hope we get enough rain this weekend for an air cleanse.

I think a lot of folks here are thinking about moving to Canada, depending on the next election. Maybe we need a population exchange? OTOH, didn't work out so well for India and Pakistan.... Only thing I like about Canada is their music. Too damn cold up there. And gravy on fries? Yuck! The cheese curds make it much better.

Give me gravy on fries, I was eating gravy on fries in diners 40 years ago. Don't give me cheese curds. On fries or anywhere. At least that's my thing. I do have a relative that loves poutine. Enjoy. Different foods for different folks.

I grew up with that accent, and reveled in WBLM the rebel rock radio station. Once sued by Barnum and Bailey for a late night program called "greatest show from Earth" deemed too close to "greatest show on Earth". Settled upon "greatest show broadcast from Earth". Which the DJ ... kept "forgetting" ... and using the old name until he was fired. Struck down by da man. LOL.

Been away for a bit. Trans ischemic attack Thursday evening. Got home yesterday PM. Still in the 72 hour window of greatest vulnerability to a stroke. All the testing found nothing in my brain but the 11 year old damage of my first stroke. Really impressed by the aides and nurses. Really crackerjack.

Will do. It's annoying, but the event has you listening to your body way too much. Taken to task by the dietician I ordered all the right things, a triumph on my phone app laying in my hosp bed. 40% jump in my weekly bill! Not surprised really. Blackberries, blueberries, strawberries etc mount up fast.

Nothing like a nonhothoused, chemically ripened strawberry. Never forget picking strawberries with my mother as a youngster. She had a rule, pick 3 eat one. The tiniest were always the best.

I need a therapy session, so you're it folks. I was told over the weekend that Tuesday I was to walk into Cardiology with a heart monitor order and they'd set me up. I walk in and give the order to 1 of 5 registrars (I thought we were pretty healthy here in Montana!). He takes the order, looks me up, and says okay a nurse will call you to set up an appointment. The systems department must be a team of 8 year olds! These kinds of things are everywhere in hospitals far and wide. I have experienced this kind of stuff every time I have spent time in a hospital. And these cliches, whether missing orders for testing or pharmacy orders or you name it, well they can have serious consequences for the patient. We have a rule in our family that another family member is always with you, including and particularly at night.
Anyway I got my nurse call and she was nice but wanted to have the monitor company send me their handy dandy kit, which would arrive in 7 to 10 days. The order called for me to be wearing the darn thing yesterday. I allowed as how that wouldn't do. She finally figured it out. You come in and we'll set you up. And that I did this morning. Nurse went over it with blistering pace. It was like she earned a bonus if she did it under 5 minutes. But she pointed out a comprehensive booklet of patient instructions, which, on arriving home, I discovered did not match the unit I have plastered on my chest!
Ever seen the movie Hospital with Geore C. Scott? It's an absolute condemnation of hospitals and funny as hell!
A little funny: On the way home I suddenly had an absolute yearning for a Big Mack, Fries and Vanilla Shake. It occurred to me I was now wrapped in the warm embrace of Crestor and the statin would allow me to indulge, right? I drove on by.

My husband has faced communication issues between doctors, pharmacies, Quest (blood work). Most commonly the doctor says they will send the prescription to the pharmacy, and the pharmacy never receives it. No problem, it is just Eliquis that will help prevent my AFib husband from having a stroke. Or they submit a requisition for blood work...only for him to go to Quest and they have no record of it. The odd thing is, I never have these problems with my doctors. It must be the cardiac practices are overworked so maybe a little "nudge" to a patient here and there to clear a case off their books is justified.

Regarding the blood work - experience has taught my wife to ask for a paper copy as well as the one transmitted to the lab. Sonoran Quest out here, typically. And they still mess it up, she had to get one of her semi-monthly done using an "annual" request, because they accidentally deleted the wrong one at the lab.
