I dunno. I must somehow be on the cute dog threads. I dunno. I guess someone I follow retweets these. I have no idea who! I'm on the bitch and moan thread. How do I get on the cute-dog one?

Hmmm. I think I know why I'm getting these. Alexa Philippou retweeted it. She used to be a dog lover (Huskies!) before moving onto the dogs (ESPN).

All of you Floridians - stay safe out there with Hurricane Ian! +1 My niece just started at the University of Florida and they're being evacuated home.

All of you Floridians - stay safe out there with Hurricane Ian! Lots of remote work folks are in the Tampa area. I think most of them are evacuating as I write this. Unless they are farther inland, but I know some are pretty close to the bay. Could be bad, especially if it slows to a crawl and just keeps dumping and blowing. Batten down the hatches!

We twice vacationed at Longboat Key which apparently sits in the eye of what may be a Cat 4. We saw so many lovely homes and restaurants along the water's edge that may not be there in a couple of days. And Sarasota has some lovely museums and parks. The entire area is so very vulnerable to high winds and storm surge. I hope everyone is already far away and safe.

I see Naples just had 112 MPH wind and it's not even half over yet. I hope David in Naples is safe and everyone else as well.

Hopefully DIN will check in soon. He is typically pretty quiet in the off season. Or maybe he is just not actively posting.

I messaged him before the storm, but no reply. Like Chappie said, he's pretty quiet in the offseason. And now odds are good he has no power. Hope he is safe and dry. Maybe DD knows...?

No power, screen damage and messy yard but all things considered, not too bad.

Unfortunately, I don't think Bokampers is in Naples anymore. Not because of Ian. Looks like the only locations now are down by Miami/Ft Lauderdale. I have no idea what David does with his time now.

I wonder what it is like to have a normal life, with normal problems? And I have no idea how I keep putting one foot in front of the other without curling up into a blubbering ball of anxiety, worry and depression. Somehow, I keep moving forward despite my periodic (yet unrealistic) desires to just walk away from it all. I have a great therapist is all I can say. And I continue to find untapped reserves of emotional and physical strength I never knew I had.
Today I am feeling overwhelmingly sad. Every time I have a glimmer of hope that things may improve with a family member, something new happens. And in the anger, confusion and pain this family member lives in I have been treated with condescension and/or silence. I try not to take it personally and know that the mental and emotional pain is what is talking and not the person. But it still hurts.
Man, do I need basketball to start to give me something relatively innocuous to my health to focus on that doesn't hurt my soul.
By the way...don't end a text with a period. I have been told that is considered aggressive, dismissive and means "I am done with you". Who knew

Chappie - sometimes it really does suck to be the strong one for everybody. It's good that you can vent to us here - and we're here for you, honest! Sending prayers for strength and patience your way. BTW - who knew about the text thingy - I sure didn't! It's ALMOST basketball time, thank heavens!

He told me later he thought it was funny and wasn't really meaning to criticize. A lot of people don't know that bit of text etiquette. I told him "if it is so important, wouldn't every one know about it, like they know ALL CAPS IS YELLING?" He thought that was funny.

October 21 and 60 degrees midday, but winter can't be held at bay much longer. In fact, tomorrow may herald its arrival. Two feet of the white stuff in the mountains predicted overnight and into tomorrow and 2-4 inches in Bozeman. What had been a sunny day has turned grey with multilayered clouds building out of the northwest. Humbug!
As Bill Murray intoned:
