Every time I think things are as bad as they can get and I simply can't take any more , life throws another curveball and I find that I still have untapped reservoirs of strength. Sooner or later, though, life will break me. Even the strongest person has limits.

Chappie, hope you know you have us all at your back. Sometimes we have to bend with the storms, and then maybe we can save some strength to go on without breaking. Remember to take care of yourself, too. Sending prayers your way.

Life will break you only if you let it. You need to read your signature and make it your mantra.
Iz always cheers me up.

Oh, goody. I am being referred to a neurosurgeon for my back. That doesn't mean surgery (which my husband focuses on that part of the specialty in terms of "oh my God!". But it means yet more poking, proding and testing.
That's okay though. I can focus on me for a change.

I hope the poking, prodding, and testing bring a perfect outcome.

We're off tomorrow (first time on a plane sine 2019!) to visit our first grandchild, born last week. We'll be in Palo Alto for 3 weeks, and I'm bringing a UConn national championship t-shirt to wear on the Stanford campus after we sweep in Minneapolis.

Well, the distraction that kept me from obsessing over my own troubles is now in the past. I will need strength to get through what is ahead. My health is fine - or mostly so, we will see what the MRI on Friday says about my back. But my eldest son is facing a difficult path, beginning tomorrow at 9:00 AM. And my husband's health remains a question. I will miss the distractions of UConn basketball.
It is going to be a very long off season. UConn didn't win the national championship. Big deal. It isn't that important to me in my life, though watching the team does bring me immense joy during the season.
Please be kind to each other. We may not like everyone who posts here. We may disagree with the opinions of some. But we have a shared passion for UConn women's basketball. Let that unite us in respectful discourse.
I am so tired of ugliness to one another. It costs nothing to be kind, and being kind could help someone make it through whatever trouble they may be facing behind the scenes.

Like you, I enjoy (and watch a lot on TV) Women's Basketball. No wins or losses in any sport have ultimately affected my life, although I certainly root when my team(s) are playing. And, like you, yes, I am so tired of the unkindness and nasty-ness between people. I don't understand why folks are so often the way they are, and if it was limited to partisan politics you could consider it "isolated" but it seems folks are nasty about everything these days.

We are in a drought out here and the winter has done nothing to reduce it as snow cover has been low, low, low. Over the next two days western Montana is suppose to get 6-24 inches depending on elevation and such. May it give us all that and more.

+1 We're in the midst of the worst drought in American recorded history. The megadrought in the American Southwest has become so severe that it’s now the driest two decades in the region in at least 1,200 years, scientists said Monday, and climate change is largely responsible. The drought, which began in 2000 and has reduced water supplies, devastated farmers and ranchers and helped fuel wildfires across the region, had previously been considered the worst in 500 years, according to the researchers.www.nytimes.com/2022/02/14/climate/western-drought-megadrought.htmlFrom an extraordinarily self-centered point of view, my wife and I decided not to make reservations in Yosemite later this summer because of the inevitable threat of fire.

More than sorry to hear it bulkey. I imagine it is so dry that when a fire starts it blows up fast and if the wind is blowing it is terrible.

It's been raining here 2-3 times a week. It sucks. What I wouldn't give for a nice drought. People always complaining.

More than sorry to hear it bulkey . I imagine it is so dry that when a fire starts it blows up fast and if the wind is blowing it is terrible. When your current snow-storm passes, let us know how it did for the area. Sadly, storms rarely have long term effects on the drought. We are just coming out a fire watch here in Tucson. I looked in the paper the other day and I don't think we have had an inch of rain yet this year, and that's less than normal for sure. They are forecasting a wet monsoon season, but those predictions are not always accurate - one year we had an extremely wet start to monsoon and then, nothing. And a wet monsoon is good for our plants and cacti but doesn't really dent the drought. But yes, the fires are scary, in 2020 we could go out in front of the house and look up and watch the fires just north of town in the mountains. And I don't think of the Tucson area as especially fire prone, even though our mountain village of Summerhaven atop Mount Lemmon was almost wiped out in 2003 by the Aspen fire and has taken years to rebuild. They were still talking about the Aspen fire when we moved here in 2011.

One small town up there got 36 inches. Yes lots of snow just evaporates. We cannot have enough storms from now on to meaningfully help us with the drought. .

Wondering about electric trucks (the electric F-150 supposedly has a 100,000+ waiting list): how would they fare in super cold weather....

bulkey I would think you'd be looking at California trucks for sure. Texas and Louisana, only if you want to be ostracized. The mining, manufacturing and recycling ...oh, never mind. Then there is the tiny amount of recharging stations and the huge number of quarters you have to carry around.

(Just got back from Palo Alto where every third car--literally--is a Tesla). But when those Southern dudes experience how incredibly fast an electric car/truck accelerates (dual and triple motors), I suspect many will want them.

As for the no call at the end of the Baylor game, it could have gone the other way, but given the way the rest of the game was called, the call was just a modicum of justice. Friggin' ugly game as so many NCAA games are. The highlight of ugly being Williams foul shots in the last minute.

Williams unexpectedly found herself with the ball and being fouled. Doesn't excuse her two bricks, but maybe she wasn't focused because the play had gone haywire.
