I'm getting pansies from (I kid you not!) a "curbside" nursery this week. Putting flowers--even pansies!--in window boxes will be a good thing. Also got a bird feeder (Amazon) and put it in the backyard, which I can see through our TV room. Nice to see life in action. I find watching the birds very relaxing.

Seasonal migration of ducks in full swing. We are in the western fly way and all sorts of birds move through here.

I miss bird watching...it's one of the things I gave up (not willingly) when I moved to NYC. I tried at first, putting out a suet cake however the birds hanging out on the street corner smoking and shooting dice got wind of it and set upon it at once, decimating it in a matter of minutes....none of them cardinals..I gave up immediately. I miss it so much, I have taken to watching bird videos with my cats Put out more feeders, suet cakes....sit back and enjoy

I've been semibingeing on reruns of The Sopranos on Amazon, but I am now into the final season and wrestling with rationing. Gotta find my next treasure so I can finish with Tony et al without separation anxiety.

So hi, Yup it's been a few days since I came here and blathered online. The reason? I have been watching Metlive in HD on my computer, which is relatively new - ok brand new and has great sound. I am in heaven. Anna Netrebko IS THE BOMB. and there is nostalgia, and not just because most of the leading ladies die (they do), but because we can hear the voice of the great Dimitri Hvorostovsky - he's on again tonight, metopra.org
But I am not just a serious person, never mind musician....I love parody, and there is a guy out there whose name from birth is Randy Rainbow who does political satire via music videos that he writes produces, sings and edits himself. I don't share them here because of their tetchy political lean, however he just made one that I think is appropriate for all ages and political leanings. It's funny and serious.
Enjoy

and so because I know there are some out there who need to be uplifted, and I want to help, I turn again to one of my joys, one of my lights in the tunnel that I look for when I am down and running out....music. SO much music has been cancelled because of this virus that one could become morose, however the musicians will not let this happen. During this time they will not get paid, however they will practice, rest themselves because most of them work non-stop between rehearsals, teaching performing and practicing, and sharing...yes, sharing their music with us.
It's entitled From us, for you....and the us is the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra....have a listen.

and now, a quick break from music. Everyone needs to hit pause for....you know...reasons, although sometimes it isn't always what you think it should be.... I remember reading this on the bathroom wall at Rocky Neck State Park when I was a kid: "Here I sit broken hearted....." I thought that it was hilarious. remember folks, this is supposed to make you laugh...if you are offended, please PM me.

So much GREAT music on Youtube. Any composer; with gorgeous video. An example:
You can plan your own concert, and listen to just the first movement or the last, or the slow second movement, of a work like this...but you know the choices are endless!

So much GREAT music on Youtube. Any composer; with gorgeous video.
Callas owned and lived this aria, of course. There are a number of her performances of Vissi on-line, all jaw-dropping in their own way, but I think this is the greatest. Maybe not her most technically perfect, but the emotions are overwhelming. This is a defining moment in art. And ditto Pavarotti with Nessum Dorma. The video is very weird, very campy. there are two versions here, skip to the 4:00 where he begins again and listen to his final note. It's scarily brilliant. Perhaps the greatest tenor since Caruso at the very height of his powers singing the greatest of all tenor arias.

Mood is slightly better today, but sleep is not coming easily. Anxiety is high, might need to follow up with my counselor as my anti-anxiety meds are running low.

Thanks for reminding me to take my D, Rocky. Working remotely has upset my routine a tad. And since it is fricking snowing in Central CT, I am also a tad cranky. It's knocking down all the daffodils I saw spring up over the weekend. Grrr....

We are a month or more from Daffodills so be happy.

Thanks, Chappy. I once wasted a bit of time looking into ways of uploading jpegs that appeared bigger here, but apparently the software we're using on this site makes it very difficult to do.
