Buffalo teachers had two days to get ready to teach on line. Western laidbackness vs Eastern hyperness. She teaches 8th grade subjects and is fearful that on line will mean a good chunk of the kids will not do the work and there will be a huge conflict between school and parents when the grading consequences roll on in.

Today is a totally down day. Depression is tightening its grip on my heart and soul. Even without this damn virus lurking in every corner, life kind of sucks right now. I will push through, no other choice, but feeling hopeless and alone and forlorn right now.

And the "territory" is just a click away. Here you are among friends UConnChapette.

Tell her that, if the school won’t do this already, she should require the kids to check in every day at their regular class time, and she’ll be taking attendance. That might capture some kids who are on the fence about doing the work. Here I am, giving teacher advice. . .

Speaking of attendance, is someone taking it here? Do we know who hasn’t been around these few days?

My grocery store has announced Tuesday and Thursday between 7-9AM is for us old folks, climbing onto the growing movement across the nation to do this. Me, I'm sticking to my early Sunday ritual.

Well Conn had it's first Covid fatality. The individual had ,as experts say, several co-morbidities and so was the ultimate high risk patient.

Too hectic a day to want to write about it BUT
I ended it on the MetOpera.org page listening to their free (for now) HD broadcasts, tonight, an exquisitely sung Il Trovatore featuring the glorious Anna Netrebko and the late but no less great Dmitri Hvorostovsky - their duet in the third act was phenomenal. As I said to my friends, Verdi must have love the pairing of soprano and baritone for he wrote such beautiful duets for them - usually it is the soprano and tenor paired (and there were a few of those). Conducted by Marco Armiliato, the show also featured Dolora Zajick (mezzo) and Yonghoon Lee (a pretty darn good tenor). This performance was from October 3, 2015

I think I'm out a fair amount of change on those tickets. OTOH, it's for a good cause and for a city that seems to be really, really hurting. Is there an easy way to get MetOpera.org on an Android TV instead of the computer. I don't "sling" or do any of those other things my kids ridicule me for not doing.

Is there a list somewhere of where those in Connecticut with COVID-19 have been? It just occurred to me that I may have run into one of them at the AAC tournament.

Many smart TVs have an option to open a webpage. I watch UCONN Husky Games replays that way. Of course that is still pretty wild west, so every manufacturer does it a bit differently. They'll all feel similar, sorta like your google on your computer, but with terrible "typing" using your TV remote. Android phones and tablets launch Chrome easy peasy. You may have that option on your TV, too.

The only web browser I seem able to use as an app on my Sony is "Puffin" which isn't working very well...for me at least....And I don't want to watch opera on my pad or computer....But thanks so much for trying.

The health dept usually contacts people whom the sick person lists as someone who've they been in contact with. At least that's true in Rhode Island.

Chrome cast? Or something similar that let's you project live from your phone to the TV? Better yet, do you have an HDMI connection on your computer? Plug in a cable and set the input to HDMI-x DisplayPort would work too, but you would need the right cable.

I’m here and surviving, though taking a second mental health day off work to try to sleep and gain a modicum of serenity and sanity. With all the shutdowns, I wish they would shutdown liquor stores. I know that will never happen, but a period of forced sobriety would be a good thing for some people who can’t otherwise do it on their own. Not a permanent solution and completely impractical. But a drowning person will reach out for any lifeline
Sorry for dumping my troubles on you. I will work through it in time. At least I am physically healthy. Small blessings in a bleak time.

My son is officially on a leave from work and says he is getting more treatment than his current level which was three days a week, three hours a day. However I doubt he was actually going since he was missing work because he was drunk so he may just be lying about it all.
My life feels like a bad Lifetime movie...
