A couple of quick comments: 1. The Chopin waltz is wonderful. My mother played piano, and I miss it terribly. 2. When I retired one thing I noticed was the cost of toilet paper in my budget rose exponentially - to the number of hours I was home instead of in the office, using their toilet paper. Bwahahahaha, it's one of life's little back-biters that catches up with you. While we had agility class today for our dogs, I suspect we might not have family dog class on Thursday as the Gov really wants us all to stay home. My agility dog did an excellent job, as usual. His handler, on the other hand was a tad wonky at times. That would of course be me. He doesn't need class, I do. Back biters....good one...hee hee hee

Re: The issue of stockpiling, hoarding, buying too much toilet paper, (toilet paper?)...whatever
In a few days, it will be over (not masks)...... After people realize it's not a hurricane and won't be over the day after tomorrow, Shopping will mostly get back to normal...
In my brother's area, N of LA, it's still crazy In the NE kingdom, it's cool
Also, no cases in the immediate vicinity (yet).
Funny: My local ENT doctor won't see people who are sick... Who needs him?

WHy not?
Saw this when it was originally broadcast, it was rebroadcasted tonight - well, very, VERY early this morning - Energetic, uplifting, hilariously funny, and very Carrey - in short, a brief but wonderful tonic for these troubled times...
ENJOY!!

Campus was very quiet yesterday without students. My classroom is organized and ready for the deep cleaning we were promised. Telephone parent teacher conferences are way faster than the in person versions. I managed to finish all my conferences in one day!

Welcome news here. Stop & Shop (grocery store) has announced that beginning Thursday they will open at 6:00 until 7:30 for customers age 60 and over. I have never been so happy to have turned 60 last Sept!

My fav is salt-free pretzels. I admit to having bought and stored several bags.. Salt free! Did not know they made such a thing. We have had a minicrisis with a lack of the big bag of Rold Gold pretzels. Snagged one two days ago. Waiting for the perfect moment to pop the bag.

I have never been so happy to have turned 60 last Sept! Smart. My grocery store is open 24/7. The utility of that?? Once went in at midnight for an OTC cold remedy and it was me, a stock person and a cashier. We huddled up and chatted for 10 minutes or so. 4 degrees this morning. Suppose to hit 44 this PM. Daughter -the teacher here- says her district -Bozeman- is going 2 use these 2 weeks to get teachers geared up to do on line instruction and will probably finish the school year that way. Adjoining Belgrade doing same.

I have never been so happy to have turned 60 last Sept! Except for the part where you have to get up and out early. 🙂 I wonder if they’ll card shoppers.

Of some possible interest and not widely reported yet... The South China Post (Hong Kong based, government friendly but semi indy and free) said that a new, not peer reviewed scientific paper based on 2000 Wuhan people who had contracted the virus noted that those with type "O" blood did statistically much than those with type "A" Less mortality and significant illness. I'm "O-" Fine today, stayed in yesterday...snow and rain today...will stay in again. Just about all ski areas shut...I might have taken a chance If we get a whole lot of new snow, I'll go out with my cross country skis.

They said they will go on the honor system, but associates have the right to ask people to leave who are clearly not in the age group. I have told my son to let me know if he needs anything. He tends to self isolate even when there is no pandemic, and I do worry that he will not find food when he goes to the store. Not going crazy here. Just offering to pick up some soup, bread, milk, OJ, etc.

Well, I am doing okay health-wise. But worry about family members is through the roof. One son in California with a new puppy who is feeling isolated and not taking care of himself because he is so focused on taking care of the puppy and is now worried about possibly having to "shelter in place" which will be further isolating. The other needs to get into a residential treatment program in order to save his job. His alcohol addiction has prevented him from performing his job and while his employer has been patient, that patience is wearing out. They have told me (as his emergency contact and because he will not answer their calls or otherwise communicate) that the HR department wants him to contact the leave program to get his "medical condition" more fully addressed. He says he will be going to a treatment center tonight, but I have no way to know if he will do it. I offered to drive him, and he politely declined. So, I have to trust. But hard to trust when he has proven untrustworthy.
The world is a shitty mess right now...

But hard to trust when he has proven untrustworthy. The world is a shitty mess right now... The repair of that trust is one of the most difficult things to accomplish, even if the alcoholic has been in recovery for a while. I remember...each time my father went upstairs to his bedroom, I remember holding my breath and straining my ears to hear the clinking of the bottle hitting the side of the drawer where it was hid, listening for the unscrewing of the cap, and the slosh of the liquid. It took years, no lie YEARS into my father's sobriety before I was able to let that go....and I trusted him and believed him that he was clean. It was easy to tell actually, for when I visited my father in rehab for the first time since he went in, I was startled to realize that his eyes were blue, and the reds were actually white! I feel for you Chappy, I really do. Been there...I know....
