MSf;). Jewell is only giving up about 6 inches to Stewie plus another 2 or 3 inches in arm length. It is so easy to underestimate that reach. Those arms come out of nowhere. Those million shot blocks and alterations would be staggering numbers if she played whole games. Even Jewell's great leg speed doesn't make up for serpent strike reach. Jewell might have been a legit contender if she learned the three ball like MoJeff and KML. Chong and Nurse kill with it too. I'm not saying she can learn it but it would have changed her value. As for a pro draft where virtually everyone knows Stewie would go ahead of her, well that IS the test. It's not even close. Some pro teams might take Turner ahead of her, too. That would be close. It reminds me of the people who underestimated Maya. You are definitely smarter when you post here Pinsky. Why is that?

Thanks! I'm too dumb to know that;). Probably, because I've had my pocket picked and shot stuffed too many times by dudes with those super long arms. They come out of nowhere and whoosh those guys got the ball on a fast break. I love Jewell but she's no Breanna. No Maya, either.

You cant compare players. First they play different positions and UConn and ND have different pieces/players in the mix. If you want to try put and Stewie on ND and Lloyd on UConn and see what the numbers would be like. There has never been a player in WCBB that can compare with Stewie. None. Diana was the Greatest and it aint close. Maya was Great. Stewie can do more then both and you can add Holdsclaw and Parker in the mix. Stewie is more athletic with a windspan of 7'+ and can do it all. Beanna is the best player in WCBB and it aint even close and I don't care what the media says. Lloyd is great on ND but compared to Breanna well it isn't fair. If you want to argue if you needed a basket would you want Lloyd or Stewie taking the shot. In that case I would rather have KML take the shot. Just saying shes the best shooter in WCBB. IF you want to argue who would you want handleing the ball well I would take MoJeff who IMO is the best point guard in WCBB. So lets not compare. The biggest difference is Stewie can do more then any player who has ever played WCBB and that's why she is and has been the NPOY.
Let me tell you a story. Back when Stewie was in Junior High I got a phone call from a friend who told me he just saw the greatest post player he ever saw. Now his daughters grew up with Kia Vaughn Danielle Wilson and Tina Charles. He told me Breanna handled the ball like a guard, could dunk and could shoot the trey and play the middle like no one he had ever seen. He said Mike Flynn was coming from Philly to sign her with the Belles. He said you should call Geno. I cant remember if I called Geno's asst Sarah or emailed the asst coaches or both. He told me she wanted to play only for UConn and nobody else. I was kept informed of how Breanna was doing from friends who were following her. They kept saying she only wants to play for Geno. Then in her Soph year in HS I got a call from a fan who said she wanted to verbal to UConn. I passed the info along and within a couple of days Geno was quoted in the papers as saying something like we have a spot for Breanna but we're not offering her until the end of her junior year.

Love you TonyC but DT and Maya are in Stewie's league. Parker too. Loyd? Nope.

It is strange how the media and ESPN are pushing for Loyd. Strange and not fair. The other side -- team dynamics, minutes played, etc. -- should be emphasized as well.

I know... it was a bit of a joke... I moved the second 'l' in Jewell to the second 'l' in L'l'oyd... Too subtle? AF The law of the conservation of "l". NERDS OF THE WORLD UNITE!!!! It's good to see a brother-in-nerdlaws... AF

Breanna is showing who's boss. No contest. Respect her greatness.

Loyd was the NPOY in the first half of the season. Stewie has been the best since.

Geno weighs in:
"Stewie is the best player in the country and there are a lot of really great players in the country," Auriemma said. "There are 365 Division I (women's basketball) coaches. If you put a gun to their head and said you can only have one players who would you take? Anybody who took anybody other that Stewie, they should just pull the trigger - hopefully it will be a blank.
"Stewie, I don't think goes out every night trying to get everybody to say 'wow she is the best player in the country. she doesn't do that, . She likes to play basketball she loves the game and she loves the big games. The bigger the game, the better she plays. When the time is right and March comes around, Stewie is at her best."

So why is ESPN promoting Loyd? To placate the 'anyone but UConn' crowd.

I think that ESPN is desperate to prove that they are not "UConn's station". So they bend over backwards to promote other teams and players.

Stewie was not so good at the Naples tourney and had a few other weak games, but she has REALLY turned it up. I'm holding my vote for another week, but I think Stewie has the edge. People called Loyd the POY in January and may be reluctant to change their minds publicly, which is a shame.

Personally, I think it pretty silly to declare someone a player of the YEAR long before that year is up.

I'm sure there are folks that have the info on when this is decided (I don't) But as of late Stewie has been unquestionably the most dominant. And if she keeps this up and the decisions are still to be made. It's hard to imagine her not getting recognition for what is clearly undeniable.
She's far and away the best.
