There's a typical Volnation exchange going on right now with a few of the crazies in the "Geno speaks" thread concerning Maya's choosing UConn over ugly orange. One of the surprises is who started the thread. One thing we can do on this board is bring over quotes from the other boards and discuss them.
Volcrazy89 has been a big UConn and Geno trasher for years and years. I had some good battles on varies boards with this moron.
Same old story - "If anyone wants to believe that it's just a coincidence that Kathryn Moore went from living in the projects in Georgia to a private condo in a gated community in Connecticut and nothing happened, then honestly they're not even worthy of the time I take to respond to them."
hahahahaha. thankfully there are some sane Vol fans I that thread. It's fun watching them go at it. That is an interesting exchange they're having. It's also interesting the DC started that thread. He's was absent from the other board for some time.

In a way, "hating" the UT program, as it currently exists, is way over the top. It was much different in the days when PHS ruled with an iron hand; hate then, I think, was not too strong a term. One can feel for her affliction, and still intensely dislike the person and the coach that she was. But since she retired, Holly took over as coach and Hart as AD, I can no longer work up even an intense dislike, much less a hate. They have just been too pitiful, all in all. Hart obviously feels little if any affection for women;s sports, and Holly is caught in a really impossible situation. As in the old song, they "are more to be pitied than censured".
The same does not, of course, apply to the main body of LV fans. It was bad enough in the days when Smoky was moderating the board, but everything Linkster has to say about MC I would like to endorse, in spades, doubled and redoubled. Rather than simply condone the rabid posters, as Smoky did, she became the chief rabble-rouser. I check in over on Volnation from time to time, just to see if they are still as nutso as ever; mostly they are, although there are some sensible people who post there. I can only imagine what the Summitt must be like these days, and the imaginings ain't pleasant! Dog ignorance, venom, envy, spite, illogic, hatefulness, libel...every conceivable variety of unpleasantness and bile. I say I can only imagine because I am damned if I will spend the money to actually see it! (Anyway, if I remember correctly, the last time I got banned from the Summitt it was for life. I was banned from that board almost as many times as DD!) About the same level of discourse as the Cesspool!
As for resuming the rivalry, I see no point in it at all. For Geno to agree would be to accept the PHS innuendos as, not necessarily true, but as ignorable, if such a word exists. And what would be the great advantage to anyone of initiating a series in which, under the current UT regime, the Huskies would win every game by 30 points or so. So to Hell with it.
Oh, by the way, howdy y'all. Being a technological dumbass, it took me a good while to find my way onto the board, but I finally did (subject, of course, to approval!)

My thought is that he either did something heretofore unknown that ticked off the mods so much that they booted him or he departed in a snit when his "[mod edit]" thread got deleted. I am thinking that it was the latter.

It was. Incidentally, bring me up to speed here. Other than DD, who has actually been excommunicated lately?

Other than DD, who has actually been excommunicated lately? One never knows.... people just disappear. It's kind of like watching re-runs of The Twilight Zone.

In keeping with the "I hate Tennessee" theme, former Boneyard poster OSouthBranch used to love this video. "They low-down, they dirty and they some snitches."

UC, thanks for that... it reminded me that I hadn't talked to SB in a dogs age... so, I called him and had a wonderful time reconnecting with him... thanks. AF

Funny thing...... Im sure I've "hated" Tennessee far longer than any UCONN fan...... hated them since they defeated UVA in the 1991 final. I was a UVA fan back then.

I love the fact that I can actively detest the Vols over here, without a handslap. Without being told that the Vols fans had just as much right as anyone to post (which they do..), but their point of view was always valid and any strong rebuttals from "our side" were not....at least in my recent memory. (And yes, I will be civil while posting. I was there too, but not politically correct...)

No, I don’t hate Tennessee. I don’t hate the school—my favorite blogger, Glenn Reynolds, is a law professor at Tennessee. I don’t hate the athletic programs—I was a Tennessee football fan for years before I became a UConn wbb fan (but their treatment of Fulmer and their decision to hire Kiffin turned me away.) I don’t hate the wbb program. They have an iconic history, and are deservedly one of the greatest programs in the last half-century. I don’t hate the players. I could say something snarky like you shouldn’t blame teenagers for an ill-advised choice of schools, but I …well, I guess I just did. Seriously, some of their players are amonf my favorites. As a basketball fan, Tamika Catchings is near the top of my list. As a male, what’s not to like about Brittany Jackson? I understand why some fans weren’t happy at the time when Kara Lawson leaded on a table in exultation after a win. Of course I was unhappy we lost, but I didn’t begrudge Lawson reaction – I took it as a sign of respect for UConn. You didn’t see her celebrate like that when they beat Saint Louis. There’s a reason. Most UConn fans now like or at least respect Lawson, but I was early on that bandwagon. I’m not the biggest Parker fan, but I acknowledge her position among the all-time great players. I don’t hate Pat Summitt. I may be biased, as I have had occasion to meet her twice, and she was cordial both times, including once when I was wearing UConn gear. I have two quibble, one small, one not so small. I think she fails to get Geno’s sense of humor; people in the public arena need to be more aware of the fact that people are different, and just because someone approaches life differently than you would, it doesn’t make it wrong. The bigger quibble I hope is just a misjudgment—a mistaken reliance on friends around her who fed her misinformation which she accepted. Unfortunately though, it remains a black mark on what otherwise is one of the most impressive resumes in all of sports. I can’t even say I hate their fans, in general. I’ve had occasion to meet a number of LV fans in person. I like to say, and hope I can continue to say, that every single one of my interactions has been positive. It all comes down to a relatively small number of online fans, who have constructed their own universe, in which Tennessee is the pinnacle of the sport, and UConn (and their fans) represents the embodiment of pure evil. They’ve developed a narrative, and they don’t let facts get in the way. Early in the history of the Summitt, they allowed UConn fans to contribute, and if they supported the narrative, they were fine, if they disagreed, they were shouted down and spat upon. Over time, that wasn’t enough, as there were a few fans interested in the truth, and the narrative was crumbling. The next phase was banning some UConn fans, and making others so unwelcome they voluntarily left. Even that wasn’t enough, so they now have a closed system, to make sure that no one can challenge their narrative. Like North Korea, the narrative doesn’t stand up to facts, so they have to keep it walled out. So no hate for anyone, but a dislike for a handful of fans who have sullied the name of what should be viewed as a great program. Phil

Hey, Meyers, who appointed YOU the "resident smart-ass"? I am going to have to seriously consider taking this up with my attorney, Mr. A. Finch! We may just have to file a grievance!
