"Gabby continues to get better and better," Auriemma said. "I hope she continues having big games this week. But in the meantime, I hope she continues to get better in practice every day. That's our plan between now and March." But now, as the No. 2 Huskies (14-1, 4-0) prepare to begin the second half of their regular season against Temple at Gampel Pavilion — UConn's first campus game since Nov. 23 — Auriemma sees progress in one of the most intriguing talents he's had in quite some time. High praise indeed for our current AAC freshman of the week, Gabby Williams from Mr. Really, Really himself LINK

"Williams attributes her recent struggles to the intense travel schedule that UConn has been on since the season opened with a week in California."
I think we as fans forget how exhausting travel can be for these young women. UConn hasn't played a game on campus since November.

December was weird and Geno acknowledged it post-game at SMU. Having been an undergrad at a sorta state school(Cornell...I said sorta), and having 2 of my 3 daughters graduated from UConn Storrs, I know how strange it is to be traveling and coming home to an empty campus. Think Geno & Co. try hard to keep the team grounded and together, but I don't want to see a schedule like this fall and early winter repeated real soon.

Not sure why it ended up this way, but I'm sure Geno will make sure it was a one and done type schedule.

While I am one to be more interested about the present, I find myself wondering what role and from what position Gabby might be operating next year. We do have four very excellent post players, two of which are player of the year types arriving. I wish I could afford a seat upgrade.

Let me channel the negs: This is a consequence of our lamentable conference and we are DOOMED! 'Course it is not. The whole semester break thing and how many differences there are has been around forever, and these differences have made scheduling difficult. Still, most of the time is nonconference and Geno and Co. should be able to add good "practice" teams to the schedule if they care to.

It's because Geno was coaching the Olympic team and forgot to do the schedule until it was too late.

I can't help but think that with all the work she is putting in this year why wouldn't they continue to use her in the front court? The position seems to be a great match for her skills. then again, I haven't really seen her play the guard position....

She has earned PT this year. Geno will find a place for her next year as well.

I just love this young lady! Gabby looks like she is 10 years old, but she is extremely athletic and a future all-american.

Williams does remind me some of a smaller Cash. Quick first step, likes to face up and go by players, also a good rebounder.

A bit of Kalana Greene, too.

The upside on Gabby is amazing. Think what she will be like when she gets a full season of basketball under her, for the first time in 3 years.(!)
