Good thing they took down the light posts around Gampel.

Can they give the MVP to the entire team? They could select any one of the top 6/7 players and make an argument Castle, Newton, Spencer? Diarra, Clingan, Karaban? Johnson?
Every one of them was their best bball self all season long. Wow, what a ride!

I'm so happy for this team. I watched the last three games with three fellow Bloomfield guys who lived on the same street in 1967. I believe our collective Mojo made the difference.
GO UCONN!!!!!

UConn played great team ball, especially on defense. Their ball movement has been outstanding all season.
I hope Hurley hangs around for another 30 years.

amongst all the other analytics, this one stood out to me: Assists: Purdue: 8 UCONN: 18
speaks to the unselfishness and connectedness of our Huskies.

According to an assistant and a couple of the players Hurley's plan was to single cover Edey and focus denying 3's. Purdue was an excellent 3pt% team and a lot of them came when a double team on Edey would leave someone wide open. It worked so Hurley's a genius.

Truly incredible. This is insane. Only 4th team to repeat, number 6 puts them tied for third all time, a record margin of victory, two straight tournaments of double digit wins. Crazy! They were really good last year. This year they looked as dominant as some of the women's championship teams. The way the offense flowed, the way the ball popped, the relentless help defense and how they constantly tipped passes. Beautiful basketball

Also, it was great to see Calhoun there. Anyone know if Geno went out there on a last minute trip?
We have more championships than Kansas and the same as UNC. Wow!

Talk about an illegal screen . Edey takes out Diara. I was just coming to post about that. Edey doesn't commit fouls.

Going to foul for the next 90 seconds? This could get ugly. Very thankfully Purdue recognized the inevitable, and didn't go that route.

Just hoping Hurley isn't tempted by Kentucky job ! He seems very happy here at UConn. In his words "they give us everything we need". His wife loves Uconn. Probably the most important factor. Kentucky has tons of money. But I agree. I think he's happy here.

Just hoping Hurley isn't tempted by Kentucky job ! He seems very happy here at UConn. In his words "they give us everything we need". He’s building what Geno did, only with far better resources than were available to Geno at the time. Why make it great again and then head for somewhere else? Sure, Storrs isn’t the glamorous destination other schools can claim … but we’re the Basketball Capital of the Worrrrrld !!!!

Yeah, could you imagine, if the game was close at the end, Edey being called for what Aaliyah did? No freaking way! The refs would have been three blind mice! I know this is a bit controversial but I think the refs hate both Hurley and Geno, for different reasons. I hope Hurley can repair those relationships like Calhoun did. Having said that, the internet is full of fans complaining about what Purdue and Edey get away with. The entire Big 10 hates Edey's preferential treatment. In this case, the bias may be as much about Edey as it was about Hurley. And, at least they called Purdue for SOME fouls, unlike Iowa in the women's game. Four FT attempts. Ridiculous. I'm glad Geno said something but I doubt it will change anything.

Late to the party. We were at a post eclipse party last night and nearly forgot about the game. We remembered in time to get back to our room just before tip off. I can't believe that we stayed awake for the entire game (there were some post eclipse/pregame libations). My takeaway was that UConn has a really good team and Purdue was a one trick pony.
30+ years ago I started watching the men's team. I followed them for several years and then kind of lost interest as I shifted my interest to the women's games. I started watching again when Hurley got the team. Next year 3 in a row and #12 for Geno.

That's the part that really peeves me. I understand about the screen (sort of) but that he got away with shoving Cam as Cam went around him that Should have been an intentional foul.
Yeah, reffing sucks.

It is the bias that bothers me. If they were just bad and just made mistakes, fine, that's life. But to hate a particular coach is just gross. At least Hurley deserves it a little. He crosses the line a lot. It would still be nice if the refs could just do their job but I sort of get it. But Geno? The ref bias against Geno is dark, deeply rooted stuff. And it has been going on for a VERY long time.
