Nor is it the strategy used in the past. A lot of SEC teams didn't like tough games before New Years. I think Tenn declined to participate one year. Maybe it was SEC v B12? Hopefully the media has explained to the conferences that if they want to be paid they need to put on competitive games. Now maybe the ACC and SEC can alter their conference schedules so that the top 3 or 4 teams play each other twice. The ACC too. I can't understand NDame v BC when NDame v Louisville is more regionally situated and also a more compelling matchup.

BC is a catholic school. That's why. It's better for the church.

To say it another way, the rivalry between ND and BC runs VERY deep and many people will be super-psyched to see ND deliver a drubbing to their despised rival.

LOL BC is not on UConn's Xmas card list either. But your "despised rival" has been wallowing in the ACC's gutter for a long time. How long will you keep kicking them? Isn't it time to find a more worthy team to despise.

I suppose there will be folks who see "despised rival", and go "huh?". Don't know why, don't know what it is, but,... I went to an all-male Catholic high school in Louisville, KY. Our hated rival was... one of the two other all-male Catholic high schools in Louisville, KY. It seems incongruous with the tenants of the faith, .. none of that "turn the other cheek" stuff here, just hate, and beat the holy crap out of your fellow believers!

God will know his own! Sports allegiances can be very powerful. I consider myself a sort of pacifist but when I was 10 and a NYGiant fan, a tornado ripping through Green Bay would have made me smile.

And then there are the University of Pennsylvania Quakers, whose cheer song starts: "Fight on, Pennsylvania....."
